Gorgeous! – Truly a gorgeous setting, with delectable food to match.
Happened upon this spot on June 30th with a friend and were thrilled to have found it.
Sure, we will always refer to it as the "Tina Fey" restaurant, but we will be back.
It was a quiet evening, the front doors open to the street. The staff was courteous, helpful and professional.
(Not sure how another reviewer had such a terrible experience.)
My friend had the mussels, I had a chicken dish. Both were truly delicious. Make the trip a few blocks over Delancey next time you are on the LES. You won't be disappointed.
Won't survive long! – It is the worst restaurant I have ever been to anywhere in the world, and I have been to a lot of countries where customer service is not a priority.
Chaotic and disorganazied. Took them 15 minutes to bring the drinks. After we ordered food they all disappeared and it seemed that waiting staff was spending most of their time in the kitchen rather than on the floor watching out for what customers might want.
After repeatedly asking about our food (45 minutes aftewr ordering) I told them that I will just pay for the drinks we had and go. Suddenly in 30 seconds they come out with our salads. Either they were sitting there and nobody paid attention or it really takes them 30 seconds to make them when they have to. We just left nd they did not even offer to pay for a round of drinks after making us waist so much time.
In a city like New York, a place like that should not exist.
Great Place to Gather – While visiting our daughter in Manhattan, we met with family and friends at Lina Frey to enjoy an evening together. Between the warm, welcoming staff, cool, relaxed feel of the place, and DELICIOUS food, our evening together turned into an entire night together. We weren't hungry for the third round of shared plates we ordered, we just wanted to keep the tasty dishes coming. An impressive selection of wine and beer satisfied our thirsty cravings. There's something for everyone on the menu. The hanger steak and lamb chops were seasoned and cooked perfectly to satisfy the meat eaters. The cauliflower is a must try, even my non-veggie eating hubby enjoyed it, to his surprise. We tried both a sweet and a savory crepe, both were sooooo good. We'll be back the next time we visit NYC, for sure.
Great food, great beer, great vibe...a must try! – I love this place!
Upon entering you immediately notice the high ceilings and open skylight that give you an instant "This is going to be a good time" vibe.
Then you notice that the beer selection and their prices are awesome. They have Palm and a bunch of other tasty European beers on tap, all only $4 during happy hour, which is from like 2-8. I spent a few hours eating and drinking and my bill was cheap, I was very pleased!
The Ham and Cheese Crepe deserves the Best Of Citysearch, and the lamb chops probably do too.
The prices are all on point, nothing is expensive, but the quality is all top notch.
I can not say enough good things about this place. I will be going back as often as I can. Give it a try and I bet you will agree!
Great addition to the neighborhood! Go tonight! – Lina Frey is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is really cozy. Manon (the owner) is very warm and welcoming and obviously cares about the food.
You select a main and a side, which is really cool.
My bf and I shared the frisee salad (awesome), the cucumber salad (pretty good), the lamb chops (yum), the sauteed salmon (8/10). We also had the haricot vertes and the pureed cauliflower (out of this world!).
We are going back - I'd recommend it to anyone.
Oh yeah - they also have an awesome beer list - delirium tremens, duval, and abita purple haze. yum.
great food, good price – We decided to check that cute space that just opened on Houston. At first, we were impressed by the style and the skylight of course!! OMG perfect night enjoying NY blue sky; We also loved the fact that they have all these draft beers (15 I think); I personally drank my favorite, Purple Haze and my friend had delirium tremens, plus they offer all kind of beers for advanced connoisseurs; We wanted to eat light so we ordered a roasted cauliflower puree, a haricot vert (string beans in french), a salmon tartar and some french fries. Let me tell you this place is worth the money, exactly what we love, affordable and good.
Our waiter was also really cool and it seems to be a nice laidback atmosphere around the staff. Finally a real LES place in the middle of junky houston street. This place rocks,we'll be back
OMG Terrible – I'm not one to normally write reviews, but I found a HAIR in my crepe!!! BARF!
Great little gem in the LES – My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place while walking through the LES and decided to stop once we saw the "too good to be true" prices on the menu. The food, however, proved to be anything but. My boyfriend had the $8 hangar steak which was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. I had the ham and emmantel crepe which was very good and large enough that I could barely finish it. We also had the french fries which were crispy and delicious. The retractable roof and overall decor were very charming and the staff was extremely friendly. There was a little alcove table in the back which would be perfect for a group or birthday dinner. I will definitely be going back here!
Citysearch Editorial Profile – From the people behind Boucarou comes this Lower East Side resto, which boasts a sliding skylight roof and an affordable, meat-centric menu.
