The East Village channels the Big Easy at this gothic, dimly lit19th-century New Orleans-themed bar, which comes from the same team behind Shoolbred’s, just down the block. The decor is authentic NOLA, with dusty liquor bottles and voodoo dolls, plus original hurricane shutters and a stained glass window salvaged from a convent in the Ninth Ward, where the owners have spent time. In addition to a bourbon-centric cocktail menu that features drinks like the absinthe-based Corpse Reviver and a classic Sazerac, there are also twelve microbrews on tap (including Louisiana-brewed Abita). Snag a table near the entrance or a stool at the bar, or hide out in one of four curtained banquettes in the back.
