Order Omakase, Pay, Leave. Didn't have time to eat? Too Bad.. BEWARE!

I'll be honest, Sushi at Sushi Yasu is still the best I've ever had. My 1st review was 5 stars! But let me tell you about our experience there tonight...

We sit down at our reservation (on time) at 7pm. We order Omakase because it was heavenly the last time. The absolute BEST.

Me: We'd like the Omakase please

Waitress with scowl: $30, 40, 50 or 60?

Me: $30 (it's what we did last time and it was GREAT)

Waitress: ehhh... $40 is better

Me: I want Toro, last time we had Toro.

Waitress: $40 is good.

Me: Okay - $40

[She later tells us, no Toro in $40, you need to pay more. Don't mislead me]

We wait ~10 minutes... our shrimp appetizer came out.

We wait another 30 minutes... the people who came in after us were all served. Our sushi finally came. 7 pieces of Nigiri each, 1 roll piece. They were absolutely delicious. The waitress comes back and asks, would you like anything else?

HERE'S THE KICKER!

Anything else? That was it for $40 each? Thats $4 a piece, and one of those pieces was a spicy tuna roll (one piece), not to mention other inexpensive sushi. I ask about the Marilyn Monroe roll. She's like that's not included. I said it was always included. She said no. I said I've been here before. She replies, no more.

Fine - so we order another roll, the Marilyn Monroe roll $13.50

The Roll arrives. It is now 8:10pm (waited 40 min for food). We've been there just over an hour. An old man comes by (not Yasu) and tells us

"There's another reservation after you, they have been waiting a long time outside. So please....[leave] "

We just had a $40 Omakase, ordered another $13.50 roll, it JUST hit the table and you ask us to leave?

Our check is dropped on the table.

DINNER OVER - please - don't bother eating, just pay and leave.

I've seen rude service, but this is NOT what I was expecting at Sushi Yasu.

Sushi Yasu's time in the Spotlight has come to an end. The sushi is the best around but it's service will be it's end.

great food!. Friendly people (Okinawan?) and great sushi! A former fish store that still sells excellent quality fish.

I Don't Know if I can Keep This Secret any Longer. I don't know if I can keep this a secret any longer but I think I found the best sushi restaurant in Queens. The monkfish liver, scallop sashimi, Marilyn Monroe roll oh my! It couldn't be any easier than walking in and not looking at the menu - just let Yasu work his sashimi magic. The location is left to be desired and its BYOB bu I think that just makes it all the more charming.
