Best Rack of Lamb!. Tuesday night JAZZ night at Serra Bistro is such a great way to spend your evening. The crowd is fantastic and the food is impeccable. The rack of lamb with red wine reduction and thyme served with couscous rice and tomato confit is to die for. Prices are VERY reasonable and the service is great. Tahir who manages the place is knows exactly how to treat a diner.

Fantastic Murray Hill Restaurant. Serra Mediterranean Bistro is a wonderful restaurant in Murray Hill with exceptional service and delightful food. I stumbled upon this place on my way to the movie theater and took a look at the menu. Next night I came with my family and it did not disappoint. I had the Caesar salad and tuna dusted in chinese bread corn with lime chozua pepper over couscous rice and broccoli rabe with two pepper coulis. WOW! I cannot wait to go back.

average high end hotel food w/ excellent service. I felt this was just your average high end hotel food. I have eaten a lot of this kind of hotel food this yr on business trips, so was not impressed at all. Forget the steak(black pepper sauce was overloaded with peppercorns, and not much flavor), beef carpaccio, and artichokes. Out of the 6 dishes we ordered that night, only the Mussels were above average. Anyway, I went with high hopes but ended up being disappointed. I would say food was 3 star and the service deserved 4 star.

One of NY's Top Restaurants. I've searched for years for a restaurant this good. Serra puts almost every New York restaurant with a fancy reputation to shame. Indeed, it is difficult to say enough good things about Serra Restaurant.

We discovered Serra by accident while looking for a place for dinner before a movie at the Imax Theater in Murray Hill. Everything from the food to the service was so perfect that we have returned three times in two months, and chose Serra for a recent after-theater dinner party for seven.

We have eaten at some of the top restaurants in New York and elseshere. Only three times in 40 years of dining have I found a restaurant with service that was equally good, and one of those restaurants was not in the U.S. The service is friendly, caring, attentive and never pretentious. Every dish we have been served has been excellent, and unlike many other restaurants with top chefs, the portions at Serra are plentiful. My wife and I have marveled at the fact that the fantastic taste and great quality of every course of every meal has never waivered.

During my first visit, my wife ordered an appetizer and I did not. The waiter brought a small complimentary tasting plate so that I would not need to sit and simply watch as she ate. We've eaten at many restaurants for years and have never seen the chef. At Serra, on two of our three visits the chef left the kitchen to greet the diners and ask if the food is satisfactory. Ask about a particular dish, and you are sure to get a sample tasting. On our second visit, I asked about a desert. The waiter brought out a free sample that was large enough to serve as my desert.

Our after theater dinner party began late and ended after closing. At no point were we rushed to leave, made to feel rushed, or told that the kitchen was closed or about to close. The kitchen remained open to take any additional order we might have until we paid the check. Water glasses are refilled almost as soon as diners take a sip. We have never had to search for a server. It seems someone is watching the tables at every moment. Everyone at Serra from the managers, to the chef, to the bartender, to the waiters and bus people do everything possible to accomodate and make diners feel like welcome old friends.

in short, the food is delicious and of the highest quality, the prices are moderate for the quality, and every restaurant owner in New York should eat at Serra to observe and learn how to provide truly excellent restaurant service.

I only had one complaint. One of the salads on the menu had a house dressing that was a bit blah for my taste, but my wife loved it. I can't recommend Serra highly enough. They are relatively new, and their location is not on the most beaten path, but the food and the experience are worth a special trip to Murray Hill.
