Twenty floors up finds you perched atop the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel--offering a tri-level bar and indoor lounge with glittering city views, including that of the Empire State Building, New York Life skyscraper and the hotel’s pool (sadly, plunging is prohibited). Unlike the original Meatpacking District location, the vibe at Plunge Park Avenue is surprisingly mellow. Sure, you still have the brand’s signature house music on blast and little-black-dress-clad waitresses strutting about, but somehow, there’s more refinement. Couples can share small plates of luxe bites like lobster sliders and imported fromage on the glass-walled terrace, while co-workers might wash away the Mondays with carefully crafted cocktails. The midtown version may still be populated by scenesters and suits, but this Gansevoort lounge delivers on its promise to be glam.
