Hidden Surf Bar. Good place to eat and get some drink. The Mermaid drink was awesome and the happy hour was fun but pretty crowded. One of the people who were with us ordered food and it never came out the chef messed up so the owner removed a round of drinks from our order which was really nice. Fun, hidden place that I would def visit again. Try the DoDo Dog it's a fun, spicy, and huge hot dog that I've never seen any place else.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Keep your eyes peeled for a yellow surfboard, because little else marks the entrance to this basement-level beach bar in the Theater District. Opened by Thomas Wilson and Eugene Ashe, formerly of Mas(farmhouse), along with Robert Guarino (Marseille, 5 Napkin Burger), Réunion has a fun, surf-shack feel enhanced by corrugated tin roofing, a bar fashioned from surfboards, bathing suits strung up on the walls and surfing videos playing in the background. The bar, named after the French island near Madagascar, serves up tasty, tropical cocktails like a Mai Tai, a “frozen” Corona and a Dark and Stormy, along with the sort of grub you might crave at the beach (fish tacos and tuna tartare) plus an enormous sandwich called Le Americain--a baguette topped with Chinese meatballs, French fries, caramelized onions and melted Gruyere cheese. Thankfully, no one is required to swim after eating.
