There are many moveable parts to the sleek Andaz 5th Avenue hotel, located near Bryant Park--and The Shop, which simultaneously functions as a restaurant, gourmet food shop and cafe, is no exception. The wood-accented space is outfitted with shutters that can be moved depending on the “mood” inside the hotel. If there are no diners, for example, the staff will pivot the shutters and clear the communal walnut table, making space for coffee, pastries (sourced from Sullivan Street Bakery) and conversation--hopefully enjoyed with a cute, out-of-town guest. Though The Shop serves locally sourced dishes all day (from 6:30am), dinnertime offers most options that change depending on the freshest greenmarket goods available.
