view & uploadGreat new bar. I love this bar! I met a friend for drinks the other night, and we had a great time. The atmosphere is wonderful with 30's music in the background and decor that makes you feel as though you've stepped back in time into an old train dining car. They are serious about their cocktails. All the juices are fresh squeezed and the sodas are made in house. They even hand chip their ice! This is a spot for people who truly enjoy classic cocktails and are interested in unusual spirits. The barman was very pleasant and knew the history of the most obscure liquors. I was impressed. This cocktail snob gives this newcomer two thumbs up!!!
WORST BAR EXPERINECE IN YEARS.
Friend had birthday drinks there on a Saturday night. Rudest bartender I've ever encountered. My friend has a citrus allergy and, after telling her they only had fresh strawberry juice and house made tonic water (as opposed to club soda), he put a lime in her drink out of spite AND told her maybe she should be sipping cocktails elsewhere. They were slammed and we were waiting 30 minutes just to order a second round of cocktails from a bar staff that thought they were more important than the customers. Every person in the bar had a scowl on their face. It was extremely unpleasant.
If you want fancy cocktails, go someplace that knows how to execute them and won't make the customers feel like it's their fault that the bar is poorly staffed and and elitist. I'll never go here again.
If citysearch did not require a star rating, i would not be putting one up here.
Citysearch Editorial Profile. Designed to evoke a luxurious 19th century bar car, this wood-paneled West Village haunt (from the owner of Turks & Frogs next door) is perfect for an after-work tete-a-tete over delicate cocktails served tableside.
