Great instructors, very fun classes.
I have been going to baila society's classes for a few weeks now and they have been great everytime. The instructors are very good and walk through the steps in detail and have a great attitude towards the students.
Some of the classes can be a bit fast paced so if you are a slow learner you might need to come a few times before you get the hang of it . But they involve a lot of repetition which helps you learn the steps faster. There is a lot of focus on technique and posture along with the footwork so you get an all-around knowledge of the dance.
Definitly recommend!

BAILA Society salsa classes.
The Baila classes which I find in youtube are something amazing and as for me it's a new word in lady styling. I've been never seen such plastic lady styling! Unfortunately I can't attend NY classes but I'm going to subscribe for online classes and to enjoy your dancing at home!

Great Styling and body movement instruction. This is the place to go for in depth body movement and isolation instruction. They have some of the best styling classes out there. try the online lessons... esp for female styling

Review for Baila Society Workshop at VISF.
I got to attend two of Baila Society's workshops at the Vancouver International Salsa Festival. Both classes were a joy to attend. The instructions were given in a way that made sense to the class with positive feedback given to individuals when they executed instructions correctly. The pace of the workshop was great. There were multiple levels of difficulty to the combinations shown. Each person could get the basic on the combination by the end of the class while still giving something for the more experienced dances to work on after class. I really enjoyed my time in there class and hope they can return the the west coast.
Thank you guys -CM
Hi CM,
Vancouver was awesome! We had so much fun and hope to return soon. Thank you for the review!
Great classes, Great performers.
The online dance academy is great! Awesome explanations and many many videos to watch and work on. I live pretty far away from NYC, but I decided to make my way to the city towards the end of Summer 2010 and take one of BASo's partnerwork classes. It was a great class and I've been back there many times ever since then. I love the fact there are always male and female instructor in each level of the class. It's so much easier for me as a follower to learn the patterns and styling when a female pro shows what it's supposed to look like. I have always found the patterns challenging and I learn tons of new things every time!
Great group of talented and very professional teachers and performers!
Hi gyivna. We're happy to hear that you appreciate both male and female instruction in all of our partnerwork classes. This is something that really distinguishes us in the salsa scene. Too many classes only feature a male instructor while women are told to "just follow". Yes, you must learn to follow but that should not marginalize the technique that must be learned to properly and safely follow while looking good at the same time. It all starts with our creative director, Ahtoy WonPat-Borja. As most of the Salsa world knows, she's just as good of a teacher as she is a performer and anyone who's seen her dance knows that's saying a lot. We'd be downright foolish not to listen to her advice/instruction. It doesn't hurt that Daniel Enskat, another BASo director, is also a skilled instructor who has always stressed technique and strong fundamentals. The combination of both of them has set the precedent for all our classes. Thx for the review. Hope to see you in the studio soon!
BAILA SOCIETY SALSA CLASS INSTRUCTORS ARE THE BEST. In October 2010 I went to a benefit performance by the Baila Society at El Museo del Bario. I figured why not, funds were being raised for the Latino Commission on Aids, a very worthy cause. So I bought at the VIP ticket price. Each person who bought a VIP ticket received a coupon for a free dance lesson. Not feeling one way or the other about Salsa lessons, I waited until the last week of the year to use my coupon. I'm glad I did. I never had so much fun being taught something. We were rotated among three instructors. I don't remember the name of the third guy. But he, along with Jenny and Joe, had excellent presentation skills. The fact that we had three instructors rotating allowed us to see the moves with different body types, different nuances, different speeds. It was kind of encouraging and very inspiring to learn like that. Joey Rivera had a way of demonstrating the dance moves and breaking down the steps that was almost like in slow motion. You were able to see the technique in such a way that it built your confidence. During the class, performers from the studio dance troupe came in and partnered with us beginners. By the end, we were all laughing and dancing like long-time friends. I recommend Baila to everybody who wants dance instruction, or wants to watch good dance performances. Even if you know Salsa, they had such moves and a variety of styles, you can probably still learn something. I hadn't planned on taking lessons. But I had such a good time and felt so comfortable and confident learning that I am now.
Hi Kojomo,
Thank you so much for the in-depth review. We're very proud of the quality of instruction we offer and reviews like this help us spread the word. As you mentioned, we think its important to use multiple instructors in every class so that you can experience different styles and so that everyone receives the attention needed to comfortably learn. btw - That third guy you mentioned is Sean. Looking forward to see you soon in the studio.
Baila Society: your one and only salsa solution!.
Online salsa instruction had never appealed to me before I signed up for Baila Society' s online salsa classes...have been hooked since then!!! I have found Ahtoy's and the rest of the Baila Society team's instruction extremely valuable, especially as far as ladies'styling is concerned!!! Each new move or shine segment is broken down, and body movement and transfer of weight soooo thoroughly and coherently explained that for me it has come as a real revelation!!! All in a very pleasant, and non-garish setting, and in HD. If I had the possibility to attend their classes in person, I wouldn't think twice, but, being in Wroclaw. Poland, I consider myself lucky to have the chance to benefit from these online classes...I can honesly say I've made more improvement in two months than in a semester at the salsa dance school I used to attend. Thank you, Baila Society!!

Hello Dani,
We're very happy to hear that you're learning so much from the BASo Online Salsa Academy. We take a great deal of pride in being able to clearly communicate technique and break down body movement in our videos in our studio classes. Thank you for the kind review. Save a dance for us next time we're in Poland :)
