The Most Tasteless Mexican Ever. Last night being struck in my office doing paperwork I decided to treat myself and called Pelea across the street. and give it a try.

I ordered the lamb shank in banana leaves w chilies & herbs but they were out of it so I ordered the ancho roasted chicken breast w/ wild mushrooms, jalapeno spoonbread & pumpkin seed mole and ordered a side of sweet plantains w/ crema and cheese

The chicken breast pieces were small, dry and I didn't taste any ancho chiles, half of the wild mushrooms were white button, there was this white puree w purred avocado on top of it.; I tasted no jalapeno or pumpkin seeds in this puree.

The fried plantains were not greasy...the best thing in the whole meal but the kitchen had threw in 2 pieces of chhes..there was no crema.

There was a container of black beans..slightly underdone and tasteless and a container of what looked like overcooker brown rice.

I WILL NOT BE ORDERING from them again!!!

LOOOOVVVVEE IT!. I went out with a friend and we lovvvvved it! The food was great! Our waitress was a very nice lady and she made sure everything was ok for us. The ambiance was beautiful! We can't wait to return to the restaurant again!

Service was great amd attemtove waiters. Went here with my girlfriends twice!! first time was their saturday brazilian lunch. atmosphere was great, live music, dancing, great drinks .Would definately recommend the guacamole. Second time was for the $15 all you can eat tacos and $8 frozen margarita's..YUMMIE!! Make sure to come with an empty stomach! . Loved the decor, service was great, very attentive waiter and the food was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Nice size portions and Great Drinks :). Enjoyed the food and drinks at Pelea Mexicana. I have traveled numerous times to Mexico and find that the Guacamole is best in New York. As diverse as NY is, authentic Mexican cuisine falls a little short. Pelea has nice size portions and great drinks. I love the beer selection and margaritas and homemade salsas. Also added bonus to watch the European and Latin soccer games. I will Gladys return again and again.

even happier. Because I, for one, used the travelzoo coupon last night and really had a great experience. No food poisoning, super friendly service, and yea, there was music, but it was NOT loud..the perfect background music that you're happy is there but even happier that it's not louder. And it's a HUGE space, great for groups.

Smart. Excellent high-end versions of Mexican food, with an extra nod to the coasts: the seafood. Standard fair is pulled apart, and put back together with attention to each ingredient, and the construction of how the whole dish comes together. Smart:not simply clever.
