BAIT AND SWITCH ON VOUCHERS: BEWARE Before buying a LivingSocial voucher in July, I called to ask if I could use two monthly vouchers for an 8-week class. I was told "Yes -- that's why you can buy more than one." When I called today to register for classes starting Oct. 6, I was told "Oh, we changed the rules. That was only good for the previous cycle of classes." Yes, now that you tricked me into buying 2 vouchers.
Be careful of hidden fees.
I usually don't write reviews, but my experience with this company was so horrible that I had to write something. I recommend that you avoid any daily deals for this company and definitely don't sign up for a membership because they will charge you all kinds of fees.
I purchased a deal on Living Social for 3 months of dance classes. I went to a class and decided that I didn't like it because it was too crowded and felt like a sauna. So after one class I never went back. Little did I know that 3 months later the dance company would charge me $69 for a membership. I called the company and spoke with the owner about getting a refund. The owner was completely unwilling to refund the $69, which I ultimately agreed to pay. But what really upset me was that they would also charge me a $150 cancellation fee!!! For what? And they refused to budge on that fee too, even though I only went to 1 class.
This company has horrible customer service and will charge you an assortment of fees without ever explaining them to you or having a legitimate reason for them. I expect to see a lot more bad reviews on here now that other people who purchased the same deal will probably have the same problem that I had.
You signed a contract to pay $69, language of which was written in no unclear terms. Your signature certified that you understood and agreed. You had 90 days to cancel but didn't. Nothing is hidden about our terms which were made clear to you orally and in writing during your registration. We regret that customers vilify us online when they themselves forget to cancel. As with any legitimate business, when you sign a contract with us, expect us to honor it as we would expect you to do the same.

The classes at Ral'eau were fine, but the way I was treated as a customer and a person was nothing short of reprehensible.
I signed up with Ral'eau through a LivingSocial deal for a month of unlimited classes. When I got to the studio, I was surprised that I had to give my credit card information and sign up for a subscription to the studio for $60 a month. But since I had already paid for the LivingSocial deal, I figured I'd just have to remember to cancel at the end of the month. When the end of the month rolled around, though, I found myself completely entrenched in the business of moving all the way across the country. So guess what? I forgot to cancel until three days after the new month had started.
I figured surely they'd understand my situation, especially since we were only three days into the start of the new month, and I hadn't attended any classes. Nope. They very rudely told me that they would not refund my payment. Under normal circumstances I could have - and would have - thought, "Oh well, my bad, I'll just do my best to take advantage of this month that I accidentally paid for." But since I was moving out of the state, there was literally NO WAY for me to receive the service I'd been charged for. Was it legal to charge me for the month? Yes. Was it moral? No, not by a long shot.
The company had no sympathy for my extenuating circumstances, but here's where it REALLY gets incredible: when I emailed them to register my unhappiness at the way I'd been treated, and to inform them that I'd be posting this review online, they sent me an email accusing ME of dishonesty, I guess for thinking they would understand my situation and refund my money FOR A SERVICE I COULDN'T USE, and THEN they threatened to sue me for libel if I dared post this review.
And then, after taking my money and accusing me of dishonesty for my forgetful little mistake, they went ahead and made their OWN "forgetful little mistake" and charged me AGAIN the following month, even after I had canceled my subscription. They reversed the charge after I called to complain, but at that point, it was too little too late.
The real cherry on top of this whole situation is what the representative said to me when I first called to cancel (this is almost verbatim, you don't forget a statement like this): "Oh no," he said. "We can't refund your money. IF WE GAVE EVERYONE A REFUND WHO ASKED FOR ONE, WE'D GO OUT OF BUSINESS." Giving me the distinct impression that they make the bulk of their money not through offering a quality product, but through sneaky billing practices.
There are better businesses to give your money to than this one. Take your dance classes elsewhere.
Good Lesson. Me and My husband just got our first salsa lesson for beginners. We have never danced salsa before and we both are terrible dancers. The lesson was clear and easy to follow. The instructor would have time for anyone with concerns about steps. We have 4 lessons to go ahead and hoping to have as much fun as we had tonight. We are looking forward to come again next weekend. Would definitely recommend.
Great place!. this is a great place for beginners and even people who have experience in other dances as well. People who are more acquainted with Salsa on2 come here to learn on1. The dance instructor is very helpful and breaks it down nicely to ensure a good learning experience. I love coming here and its right by times square so when I get out on Saturdays theres always something to do around the area. I love it because you rotate partners during class so you don't have to deal with the stress of getting a partner. The dance instructor is very dedicated and understanding.
Professional, fun, and convenient. Ral'eau Salsa Dance Company's founder is clearly as devoted to teaching as he is to salsa. He is passionate about what he does, clear and professional, and listens to all students. He manages class time well, and is really connected to the NYC salsa dance scene as well.
Great new spot for Salsa Classes!.
Instructor Ral'eau is very thorough and he makes sure the environment is chill, relaxed as well as making sure you pick up some new steps even if you have never danced before.
I have been to the classes twice and I will definitely be coming back for some more!!!!
Just go and check it out if your curious :)
