GREAT. I am a loyal costumer of Nino's and the food and service at this restaurant have never disappointed. The waiters are constantly ensuring that I am taken care of and comfortable. The food is as delicious if not better than the first time I sampled it many years ago. This is an overall top notch restaurant with a wonderful ambiance and great service.
Loyalty Reigns.
Nino’s seems to have many loyal customers, I noticed the waiters call some of their patrons by name. There is a reason for this loyalty. It is good food with extra large portions and no cut corners.
The Jumbo Crab Cakes were almost all crab, no Surimi here. The Caesar Salad was large and loaded with shaved cheese. Sorry, raw egg is illegal in New York State.
The double cut Veal chop was enormous with a very good mushroom sauce. A chunk filleted Striped Bass looked like it had come from an Orca. It was crisp on the outside and perfectly done inside. The Grilled Prawns were nice, but a little salty.
We did not bother about dessert as we rolled out of Nino’s Positano. One caveat there is a restaurant around the corner with a very similar name.
Dinner was not cheap at $ 200 for three without drinks or dessert.

service charge - 21.75% for group dinner. The food was not as good as last time. We are party of 13, but they've add 21.75% service charge to the bill. Usually for party over 8 is 18%. It is a little too much since I've calculated at 18% and collected money in advance plus the service was only okay.
great food lousy service.
Arrived at 7:30 Saturday nite with reservation. Restaurant empty, seated right away.
Waiter comes over doesnt say hello, welcome, do you want drinks. nothing!!! Small short dark haired guy around 45. A young guy comes over, we order drinks. The older guy comes back, no smile, nothing. Tells us the specials. UNREAL..........fOOD GREAT. service absolutely horrible. water glasses not refilled. no one came by to see if the food was good,, if we needed anything. Twilight zone...............
Nino, you have got to give your busboys a chance to be waiters, they were at least personable. Fire the waiter.
He gives your place a bad reputation.
Great food, really great waitress!!!.
The food was so good, and our waitress, CJ, couldn't have been nicer. She was a sweetheart...really accommodating, and took great care of us all...I'll be sitting in her section again soon! Be nice to her, she deserves it!
We'll definitely go back again! Highly recommend.
Sad we ate here..
First I have to say, I have never wrote anything about any place of service.
Never felt the need to. But this was the worst experience I've ever had dining out.
The waiters were rude and seemed annoyed from the moment we walked in.
We should have left then and there but figured, we're here already. Plus, we've
lived in NYC our whole lives, so we're used to it.
We got quickly led off to a table and the waiter just walked off.
We got asked twice, "what are you drinking?" after we had already ordered
drinks. Not to mention my husband's glass of wine never came.
We finally got menus and ordered our food. There was plenty of other rude
and curt interactions from the waiters but I don't want to get into it. And it
wasn't just one of the waiters, it was the entire wait staff. Horrible!
Finally the food arrives and it looks pretty good. I ordered potato crusted
salmon. My husband got the linguini with clams. After a few bites of my
salmon it seemed a little off. I asked my husband to try it.
He says," it's kind of mushy and powdery". Exactly, I eat salmon once a week (literally)
and I've never had it like that. I tried it from the center and then I noticed
a sour taste, so i stopped eating it. Then my husband says, my plate isn't that great either.
The pasta was all dried up and hard. So he just ate the clams.
After we got our food, they never once stopped by our table to check on us
or even refill water. We just asked for the check the left. We didn't want to leave
a tip but we decided the right thing to do is leave a tip and just not come back
again. I had stomach pains the rest of the night. The worst valentines memory
we'll ever have.
pushy waitor. We deceided to try Positanos and were upset because the entire dinner we were forced to choose between upgrades the waitor kept suggesting. In fact my husband ordered a hot antipasta to share and the waitor suggested one for the table and then proceeded to bring us 5 individual antipastas and charge us 70 dollars. We had friend s there and it put us on the spot. We also ordered soft drinks but the waitor kept insisting that we order wine and went through and extensive after dinner drink list. If you want to spend a lot more than you expect go here,,, they will upgrade about 150 dollars at the least.. Will not recommend to anyone...
Average. I decided to take a chance on this rest. due to great reviews but was shockingly dissappointed with my dish but overall decent cozy rest. Of course everyone cant agree on everything but my dish "chicken over the brick" was a recommended dish but it came very dry and bland. It was so bad i barely touched my meal and i paid for it. My date had the ravioli which looked great. Besides the chicken the overall ambiance was great and expect a older older crowd. The service was very good which is always a plus. Just dont get the chicken!!!! to be honest not sure if I would go back there again...
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Creative Italian cuisine includes fine wines and signature lobster-for-two fra diavolo. Romantic dinners, prix-fixe lunches are enjoyed at white-draped tables.
Warm and Romantic. We dined at Nino's on a snowy evening in December. The food and service were superb and the dining experience was completely wonderful. We had very good risotto with seafood and a veal special with prosciutto and broccoli rabe. The salad with beet and goat cheese was great. Very good and reasonably priced wine list and great tartuffo for dessert. We can't wait to dine there again.
