This fashion-forward gastro-lounge offers one of Manhattan's most artful and ambitious carte du jours. In between premium sips of sake, wine, beer and cocktails, guests enjoy bites inspired by the fusion flavors of Italy, Japan, Mexico and Latin America. As a backdrop, the digs are equally eclectic, featuring furnishings and appointments that are, at once, upscale yet industrial. Put it all together and you've got the makings of a very dynamic dining and lounging experience, where guests are invited to nibble, share, sample or feast. Meeting friends for after-work drinks? We recommend mixing and matching the Salmon Skin Salad, Filet Mignon Carpaccio, Flautas Mexicanas and fresh-made Guacamole & Chips. Of course, an entire sushi bar of fresh seafood options await, from apps and rolls to Sushi and Sashimi a la carte or by entree. See you soon at Avenue A.

The Scene – On initial examination, it's easy to mistake this place for a bar. Art and miscellany adorn the black-painted walls; strings of colored lights, disco balls and TVs are hung here and there; and on weekends a DJ fills the dining room with loud dance beats. All of this makes the environment far from serene, but the leisurely service is courteous and competent. – – The Food – Given the emphasis on spectacle, it's a pleasant surprise that the Japanese menu is so good. A wide variety of sushi concoctions are available, ranging from the simple and traditional to…

- What to Drink:
- Try the bar's interesting assortment of drinks, including lychee martinis and sake cocktails.
Not so yummy..

Did not enjoy this place.. looks more like a dive bar inside and the staff was not very attentive.. our dishes/glasses were not clean.. the miso soup came out cold then we had it come back (presumably out of the microwave) way too steaming hot...
the sushi rolls were not fresh-tasting .. and the quality reminded me of supermarket sushi..
overall this place is a dump with low-quality food.. There are so many great sushi/japanese spots within walking distance that I would definitely recommend you try elsewhere!
- Pros: cheap, location
- Cons: cheap bad sushi, bad service, bad decor
entirely awesome.

I had sashimi here once and got really sick that same evening. I'd been eating from this place for about a year, and generally I thought it was okay. Not top shelf, but okay for a sushi place. When I called them about it the next night, the man on the phone was very rude and dismissive. I take my business elsewhere now.
Amazingly good sushi.

Normally you shell out $$ for sushi and after your meal you kind of shrug and say to yourself "delicious, but it tasted like any other sushi"
Avenue A Sushi is suberb, you realize it was well worth the money. Fresh ingredients and the best quality cuts of fish. Prompt service and really excellent atmosphere.
Overall, Highly reccomended. Excellent food and service
