Delicious and Romantic Fondue Dinner.
What can be more romantic than a nice dim lit fondue dinner? Not much. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and it was romantic, filling and fun.
Taureau is a BYOB place so you can bring some nice bottles of wine to pair with your fondue. We chose the pre fixe of $37 a person, which comes with salad and croutons, your choice of cheese fondue, 2 choices of meat, choice of fondue for the meat and finally the chocolate fondue with fruit plate.
We chose the Soprano cheese and ordered a side of potatoes to dip in other than croutons. The cheese is thick and creamy, perfect for the dips but I would like a little more. We picked pork chops and skirt steak as our choice of meat and dipped in canola oil. At first, it sounded really greasy but it turned out just right. The meat came pre-seasoned and they also gave us 4 dipping sauces.
Then, we picked dark chocolate fondue to dip our fruit and marshmallow. I wish there was more chocolate! We were satisfied by the end of it. It is a little pricey but the service was very good and food is excellent.
It is perfect for a group dinner or a date.
Best fondue in new york.
What an amazing experience--And trust me, as a fan of fondue, I have had some terrific and not so teriffic experiences.
Had three course Prix-fixe menu that included cheese fondue first, meat second (upgraded to filet mignon rather than going w/ the standard cut), and then chocolate fondue for desert.
The cheese fondue is OUTRAGEOUS. The best I have ever had anywhere in the world.
The filet was perfect and the unique sauces (4 of them) over the top.
The chocolate fondue was also the best I have ever eaten--went for the dark rather than the milk chocolate.
Must also mention the owner who could not have been more accomodating, the staff were very attentive and the food sublime. A+++++++++ Oh, and did I mention this was a tremendously good value? I will absolutely return on my next trip to NYC!!
Byob French Cheese and Steak Fondue.
appetizers Perigurd one if you like trufles and filet mignon with pork tenderloin with those sauces !!!
have to go to the intense dark in the end....
BIGGEST NYC RIP OFF!!!!. This place was BEYOND expensive. Usually at a fondue restaurant the price on the menu is per pot. At Taureau it is per person, and $24 per person for a fraction of a pot of cheese is not cheap. The cheese comes with only a few bites of a salad, and some toasted bread bits. Everything else is an additional cost. My boyfriend and I spent $72 for a pot of cheese, 6 small mushroom caps, 1 fingerling potato cut into 8 small pieces, and about 1/4 of a stalk of celery sliced up. I will NEVER go back to this place and would rather spend the $72 paying my electric bill. My recommendation would be to go to the Bourgious Pig literally 4 doors down for WAY better fondue and value.
