My husband and I found Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel to be the perfect venue for our wedding reception. We met and fell in love in NYC, actually in Astoria Queens, so having our celebration in the neighborhood we knew and loved was important to us. When we first inquired about hosting our reception at the Penthouse, we weren’t sure it was something we could afford, anyone planning a wedding knows how difficult it can be to align your budget with your vision of what you want. Penthouse staff invited us to come by the venue and discuss our initial thoughts on guest numbers, food, timing, drinks, music, and of course budget. We met with Natassa Contini, who led us through the entire process, by the time we left after our first meeting we already knew it was the perfect venue for us. Over the next few months (we planned for about 7 months), Natassa helped us to work within our budget to accommodate everything we wanted. The food was delicious, the wine was amazing, we barely needed to spend money on flowers and decorations since the amazingly stunning background of the night sky and the bridge were there, and the items we did bring for favors/flowers/card birdcage were all set up by the staff with little more than an outline by us. We filled our room block with our guests and even used the Ravel shuttle to get to our Church ceremony in the neighborhood. We couldn’t have asked for a more amazing night. Thank you Penthouse 808!
My husband and I got married at the
Ravel hotel about 9 months ago. It was one of the happiest, most fun days of both of our lives that was accentuated by the helpful event planning staff of the Ravel Hotel. I will start by saying that we are both very laid back. We didn't have a large budget, but being as stubborn as we both are, wanted so badly to get married in New York, where we live. I dreamed of having a terrace wedding overlooking the Manhattan skyline where we could entertain our out of town family and friends, as if to say "look how awesome this place is!". It was an amazing day and night.
To this day, our friends and family remark on how that was "the best wedding I have ever been to", and "the food at your wedding was amazing!". I agree with both of these statements. To start, the terrace is unbelievably beautiful, the views of Manhattan at sundown could make you weep. The cocktails, food, and service is terrific, creative, and entertaining. The rooms are spacious, well cooled, and urban chic in design. We had no problems with noise (although, to be fair, we may have been the noise). Also:
Annie (the event planner at the Ravel) is the most accomadating, sweet, and organized woman I have met. She is professional to a T and an awesome chick as well.
I was comfortable with a more casual, party feel for our wedding. I had no veil, just a huge smile. We had no flowers, just the lights of the city, we had no pretense, just great cocktails that flowed all the way through dancing to Jay Z's "Empire State of Mind" around midnight. If you have money and expectations for a Plaza wedding, go there. If you want to party with the love of your life and your peeps Queens style-Ravel is it.
Amazing View of the ny skyline. Last weekend my friends and I were looking for a bar in queens to take our girl Friends. After a quick search online we decided to try the Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel. We were very happy with the service and the view of the ny skyline was amazing. We will visit the Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel in the future.
They will Rip you Off!!. A group of us decided to have dinner at Penthouse808 because one of our friends has been promoting this place to us because of its view of the city. We all had drinks and paid for them at the bar before sitting down for dinner. Any drinks we had while eating were also ordered and paid for at the bar. So it came to a great surprise when we received our bill and noticed we were charged for our drinks. We advised the waiter that the only drinks that should appear on the check were the 4 pitchers of Sangria. He looked at us like we were crazy and told us you ordered drinks so you have to pay for them. We let him know all our drinks except the Sangria Pitchers were paid for already and we had the receipts to prove this. Finally, the manager got involved since she was pretty much busy talking to the DJ while all this was happening. We had to go to the bar and use calculators to arrive at the correct amount that should have been charged. I was a bit upset that we were overcharged nearly $200.00. Even worse the manager and the staff made us feel like it was our fault and we were trying to skip on the bill.
Good feel to it. Nice authentic looking place to really enjoy yourself. I kind of recommend the single life crowd to go, but hey not the worst thing to bring sand to the beach! Usually it seems crowded, just adds to the fun.
PH is great. Nice penthouse brought by this hotel. Smooth ride into long island city always
Nice place. Really cool of these people to offer a lot of things here. Low prices too, I also like showing up to these places with a group of girls so its easy access and fast service. That goes without saying though. I was happy.
Pretty nice place. I do like it, but its quite the drive for me from home. Once in a blue a friend or two will recommend going for the night. Wouldn't be a disappointment though, long drive or no long drive. So the only con being its a little far from me, everything else is just grand.
