I purchased a Groupon for a senior level wash/hair cut and deep conditioning from this "organic" salon. I was SO excited. However, from the moment I called to book my appointment my experience was HORRIBLE.

When I was booking my appointment I tried to talk to the person on the phone (who happened to also be the manager) about my hair type so maybe she could book me with the best fitting stylist, but she didn't give me a chance to talk and put me with "Tim", claiming he was 'the best' (I later learned that Tim had JUST started working there and was not a senior level person as the Groupon promised). I got off the phone and felt blown off, with the feeling that she tells every customer that their stylist is "the besT" very insincere. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and so kept the appointment.

I arrived around 10:45am for an 11am appointment and the salon was closed, gated and everything. Someone came to open it at 11 am exactly and so I was left waiting in the Starbucks across the street (where I met Tim who was also waiting?!). When they did open I headed over and the first thing I was asked for was to pay $8.00 cash up front as tax. I didn't have cash on me or my debit card and they refused to let me pay with a card and refused to cut my hair until I paid the "tax" ! This is ABSURD!!!! I've lived in NY for 10 years and been to a MANY classy and high end salons and have never heard of this. The receptionist was texting the manager who was not there at the time and kept apologizing to me.

After waiting 20 minutes the manager arrived with huge shopping bags and she hit me with one on the way in, not even stopping to acknowledge it!!!! When I tried to find out why they couldn't take a credit card and also to find out why no one had mentioned this "cash up front" thing when I booked the appointment, she insisted that I HAD been notified and then had the nerve to tell me "If you can't afford a haircut you should not have booked one" !!!!!!!! This was beyond rude and audacious and being able to afford the cut was definitely not the problem!!! I walked out after that, really angry.

Now I have to call groupon because the salon redeemed my purchase even though I didn't get any services. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR.

Wonderful people, wonderful hair products, very attentive sylists, savvy and cordial owner, great music, cool vibe, immaculately cleaned facility and a pleasure to get a haircut in. Also, this was my first hair cut in years where I wasn't asked to buy any products. Whether in a fancy Madison ave salon, or a supercuts, the stylists always peddle products. Not at Salon Eco Chic. Best haircut experience I have in New York in a decade!

I went to Salon Eco Chic for a simple cut and highlights. My experience exceeded any expectations tenfold! First of all everyone who works there is really friendly down to earth and amenable to what you the customer wants. (I watched while another woman got her haricut by a petite stylist there, it was a punky spiky cut and it came out fantastic!) I had been to another salon earlier in the week to see if the hairstylist understood what kind of a cut I wanted. She told me I couldn't get my hair cut the way I wanted because it's too fine. She suggested a different cut and different color than I wanted. Needless to say I didn't go to that salon. At Salon Eco Chic Natalie looked at the photo of the cut I wanted and thought it was great. And then she cut it just like the photo! Even with my fine hair she did a great job. Then the hightlights came out beautifully! They are subtle where I wanted them to be and then she gave me a little more intense blonde in a few special places where I wanted it. It was exactly the style and color I was hoping for! And I never smelled any chemical odor from the dye, there was no burning of my hair or scalp. And today, four months later it still looks great and is not dried out and crispy. I feel more comfortable with organic hair products without sulfates, parabens, etc... and was thrilled to read that the ingredients on the products are a cut above the ones in other salons. Go here for your next haircut, you won't be sorry! It's a wonderful, relaxing salon where they do what you want very skillfully and without a glich! I now have a salon I can always count on! Thrilled Salon Eco Chic exists!!!

I bought a voucher on Living Social for Ombre Highlights and haircut and am soooo happy I did! I am always skeptical and hard to please when it comes to my hair but I was feeling daring and went for it. Luckily, my expectations were exceeded!The salon is super cute and all the ladies are lovely and accommodating. Elvina was my stylist and not only was she fun and friendly, but also amazingly talented! She executed exactly what I described to her. My color and cut were better than I even expected! One thing to know is that if the highlights aren't as dark or as light as your preference after the bleaching phase, you will have to pay an additional $35.00 for toner. You are told this upon arrival and they are not pushy at all about it. I wanted a darker, more natural look so I paid the extra money and I wish I did know in advance. However, I received a 50% off coupon for my next visit which I will definitely use! I highly recommend this salon and I hope everyone has as wonderful of an experience as I did.

Want the natural, ombre, balayage look? See Sarah!. I was in desperate need of getting something done about my regrowth and wanted to go somewhere close to home. After researching salons in my area I called Salon Eco Chic to get an appointment that morning. I was in luck! 2 hours later I rolled up to the salon and was greeted by Sarah soon after.

I've been getting a half head of highlights for a few years and go crazy when they grow out. My hair is super long and thick but I've been wanting a more natural look without entirely losing my blonde. Sarah totally got what I was trying to achieve and worked with me in really cutting into my hair the way that I wanted and then toning down the blonde without entirely losing it.

Briefly, Sarah first dry cut my hair and then painted on a lighter brown color to extend the regrowth into the length leaving the blonde ends. This now made my hair look more 'sunkist' opposed to that embarrassing grown-out two tone look.

She totally nailed ombre/balayage without it obviously being that. My hair looks more natural dirty/beach blonde than colors fading into one one another.

I absolutely loved what Sarah did for me. I had been to two stylists before her over the past year to obtain this style and they both insisted I stick with blonde highlights and foils. Never again!

Not only did Sarah's star styling here rock my world but so did the price. If you've never been here before you will get a super deal. I highly recommend this salon!!!

Best Haircut Ever. This was the best haircut I have ever recieved since moving to New York City in '99. Ten years later I finally got an INCREDIBLE haircut from Elvina. I am definitely coming back again. She was very professional and helped me find a look that really worked. I found my new stylist and salon!

So happy with my hair, Thank you Raisa!. I just found out all my co-workers go to this Salon and see a girl named Raisa. I was in desperate need of hair maintenance and itching for a new style, so i made an appointment. The salon itself is very cute, i felt very at home. Raisa is super nice and knowledgeable! I brought in lots of pictures and ideas, I wanted to go from a dirty blonde to red. Raisa was really excited for the change and totally up for the challange.

With color done, she re-layer my growing out hair and did a beautiful blowdry. My hair turned out better then i could ever imagined, absolutely gorgeous!!! I'm so happy. Thank you so much Salon Eco Chic !
