Tips for Bumble & Bumble

ANILSA gave me the best haircut i've ever had!!! No joke, I've literally been stopped on the street TWICE since my haircut last week! And all of my friends and coworkers keep complimenting me on it. I don't know if the haircut had anything to do with it, but I even got my ex back!! ha ha ha!! When you look good, you feel confident and it shows!! Thanks, Anilsa!!

Love this place!. After moving to NYC last summer I decided I was ready for a change. I went to a salon and told the woman to cut about 5 inches from my hair so it hit my collar bone. She cut off about 8-9 inches and all of a sudden i had a super short bob. I was traumatized and scared to get my haircut anywhere else in the city! Finally, I decided it was time to try again. Off a reccomendation from a friend I booked an appointment with a senior stylist at bumble and bumble. They squeezed me in at the last minute and I was so happy with the results. He listened to what I wanted and made my hair look wonderful! It was a little pricey but it was definitely worth every penny!

Spacious, Clean and Full of Talent. Entering Bumble & Bumble for the first time I was greeted rather rudely by the twin-looking wanna be Buddhist monk types at the front desk. The sort with the half shaved heads topped with a mini chignon and quasi-skirt pants. I understand, working at a front desk, these guys probably have to hear the same questions repeatedly... "Where is the bathroom?" for example. After checking my coat, I returned to the front desk and asked where I should wait for my stylist to call on me when she was ready for our appointment. A monk twin replied abrasively, "what are you here for, where are you going?" I said I was there for a haircut (surprise, surprise) and he pointed arbitrarily at the wall behind him. I walked around the wall and through the spacious salon and found a cafe where I waited for my stylist, Ruby, to come and get me. Meeting Ruby changed the atmosphere. She was straighforward, caring and attentive. She walked me through the process of cutting my hair, offering me options as she went. Ruby arranged to fit me in with her coworker to have impromptu highlights done during my appointment. The colorist, Stephanie, was equally talented, although a bit overworked. I ended up waiting for some time to have her finish my partially completed half-head highlights (she left me to put a single process on another client, then returned to finish my color). In fairness, Stephanie did a fantastic job. She used a painting technique (no foils) that allows for very natural, slightly grown out looking highlights (picture Giselle's blonde ends and slightly darker roots, very sexy). I will return to Bumble & Bumble and plan to keep the salon as my permanent cut and color spot. Give yourself the day at the salon, not just a few hours. It is a busy place and the staff is stretched on time. You can pass the time between cut and color in the cafe where food and drinks are served.
