VERY professional and helpful.. I've been frequenting TekServe for the past three years and have NEVER had a problem. The service is always very professional. In '05 I had my mac Mini's CD drive repaired under the warranty for free. No problem. Recently I had an airport card installed in my mac Mini. Since my Mac is relatively old, the items needed for installation had to be special-ordered. However, TekServe didn't charge me for that. When I was dropping off my Mac for service, I accidentally lost my wallet in the store. One of the guys from TekServe left me a message on my phone about it, and Tekserve stored my wallet for me in a safe place until I was able to come pick it up. They didn't have to go through the effort of finding out who the wallet belonged to and if that person was one of their customers, but they did. I appreciate that. I'm very surprised at some of the one-star reviews here.

Apple Experts. The team at this store definitely know Apple products inside and out. I went in because I needed some advice on how to hook up some audio video equipment from my laptop to my HDTV and they knew exactly what I needed from the start. The Apple store is always a zoo, so I prefer this store.

Only place I bring my MAC. The staff here is very knowledgeable and helpful - this is the only place I will bring my Ma. They answer all my questions and really take their time solving my problems-- they also offer free classes in everything that has to do with computers, graphics, art, music , business - you name it. The only problem I have is that they are ALWAYS crowded- and I have had to wait for hours to be seen by a technician - but worth the wait.

Expert Mac Repair. My macbook crashed and I brought it to Tekserve for repair. They were able to save the data on my hard drive and repair and restore my machine. They did exactly what they said they would and it was hassle-free. Fees were reasonable. I would give them 5 stars if only they could be a little quicker (they were not slow, but not 5-star fast either). Experts for sure.

GREAT EXPERIENCE. I had a HORRIBLE experience at the Apple store on 14th street, so made my way over to tekserve and they made my day. I didn't have to wait or deal with incompetent rude salespeople. I got want i wanted quickly and was completely satisfied with my purchase. Thanks !

BAD SALES DEPT.. Terrible sales man named C- - - -. He lost a $4500 sale in just a few moments. Surly and belligerent attitude. Went to the "original source" store and it was the complete opposite experience. Now loving my new computer and all it's extra services. Don't even consider buying here. Tek is fine with repairs though.

Don't honor returns or replacements. I bought an iphone battery recharger from Tekserve, When I bought, the salesperson said they would replace it if it stopped working. It did stop working after one month, and when I called, the technician told me that they would exchange it if I brought it into the store. When I got there, however, the technician refused to exchange it. He said I would need to send it into the manufacturer, which I did, and the manufacturer exchanged it without a problem. I had to go through a lot of extra effort because Tekserve wouldn't live up to their own exchange policy.

Hostile Technicians. The technician assisting me was hostile and dismissive of my concerns. She refused to answer direct questions. Eventually I took my MacBook Pro to the real Apple store in Soho, and they fixed it with a smile.

Rip Off Artists. I took an ibook g4 to the apple store and was directed to this place to buy some RAM (one gig). The apple store told me what I was looking for should cost about $40-$50. When I got to Tek Serve, they helped me right away. I told the guy what I wanted and he quoted me $150. I told him I didn't want them to install it, I just wanted to buy it. Yea, $150. Are you sure, I just came from the apple store where the told me something else? I had the computer with me and showed it to him. He opened it and said yep, that's a g4, $150. I asked him how much 512 would be and he said $99.

Now, I can't prove this, but I'm almost positive that the guy sized me up as someone who didn't know anything about computers and was attempting to rip me off. I came home and ordered what I needed from Crucial for $50. I won't be going to that donkey hole again.

Tekserv actually cares about people. I have been a regular customer for years because Tekserv has excellent customer service and an excellent system for waiting in the store (unlike Mac stores, which have no system whatsoever). Yes, they actually have a number/subject system!

I have had both my iBook and my iPods serviced for free numerous times. Of course, I have also paid for more serious work to be done, but I've had NO problems. I went in last year convinced that I needed to buy a new computer and told them so, willing to spend$$. They acctually talked ME out of the sale. It turns out all I needed was a new hard drive. They were right; I saved money; and they got my loyalty and respect. the staff may appear too cool for school, but they are friendly and professional. I have recommended Tekserv to numerous people, all of whom have had excellent experiences.

Con: I once had to argue for a full refund for an iPod I bought that was not compatible with my iBook. The clerk told me I could return the iPod if it wasn't compatible, but he failed to tell me that there is a non-refundable 10% restocking fee. In the end, I got a full refund.
