Salon 808. I truly had a wonderfuld experience at Salon 808. I had been there several times when Luba owned the salon, it was nice, but the experience I just had on Friday 11/18/11 was the best I have experienced in a very long time at any salon. Doug, the make-up artist makes you look and feel like a movie star, very naturally. Carole did a beautiful blow-out on my hair, she truly listens and has a instinct about the customer in her chair, as a result the look is Fantastic!! There are no bad words against Luba and no high pressure selling of products, these professionals want you to look good and walk out very happy and satisfied--I did.
The old Salon Luba at Riverside Mall.
I am part of the new management at Salon 808 (old Luba). My name is Franco Della Grazia, I am a creative director with Matrix/Loreal.
I can assure you the only thing I have ever done under a table is play FOOTSIES..
Drop in for a free hair consultation and a great cup of coffee.
You be the judge.

Found Luba. Anyone looking for Luba, go to Salon Luba's page on Yahoo. Someone was kind enough to share where she has relocated. The smear campaign that the new management is putting on all over the internet is sickening.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I agree with the most recent reveiws-it is appalling how the salon turnover was handled and there is no one of quality left to do hair. As for the negative review about Bruna-I have been going to Salon Luba for two years JUST to have Bruna cut and style my hair. She has always been pleasant, patient and super talented! As a matter of fact, I recently tracked her down at a new salon in Edgewater if any other Bruna fans are interested. Salon Luba certainly has a lot to learn as Luba and her son ran the place brilliantly. It's a shame it will no longer be the same.
New management needs to get fired!.
I've been going to this Salon since it opened almost two years ago... and I always had great service. The staff and front desk were friendly, super nice and the quality of the stylists was high grade. I was at the mall shopping last week and decided to drop by for a quick blowout and was shocked to see that NONE of the old staff was there. The person at the front desk informed me, quite rudely, that the salon was under "new management" and wouldnt say anything else. Then the new manager came out and the guy looked like he belonged in some backroom making under the table deals rather than running an upscale salon!!! I was shocked. the place was empty, which NEVER was the case when Luba and the original staff was there, and I'm not surprised. Anyway, the prices stayed the same as well as teh menu but the stylists changed - FOR THE WORST. The stylists almost burned my hair while straightening it... and gave me attitude when I told her how i wanted it styled!!! Shame on me for not walking out....The attitude from all the employees was so unprofessional, they are going to make all the clients run for the hills. I wont be surprised if they close down within a couple of months. New management doesnt look like they know how to operate a beauty business, or ANY business and need to get FIRED!.
Never going back there again...
APALLED. I am absolutely disgusted. I recently made an appointment, unaware that the salon was under new "management." Gosh, what a group of slimey, greedy people with no real concern for their clients. Luba, wherever you are, I hope I find you, because I am so disappointed that you and your staff are gone. I experienced nothing but kindness and professionalism (and laughs) with you guys. I do not believe a word that these people (if you can even consider them that, as heartless as they are) are trying to say about you. I hope all the other clients follow suit because I know you and your staff worked endlessly to build that salon up. Where were these so called other "owners" then?
LOVE IT!!!!!. Simply had to write how I went back and tried having my makeup done for an event with Douglas. (daughter and I normally go to him for brow and lash ext.'s) THERE ARE NO WORDS! Except this guy knows his S***! My makeup stayed ALL DAY & NIGHT! First time ever that's happened not to mention its 100 DEGREES OUT STILL!!!! Anyone who wants to try something different than your normal visit to a makeup counter hunt him down lol. You wont be disappointed and won't end up wasting your $ on having to buy products at a counter that you will never use again. Unfortunately, now I have to go wash my face.
Russian LOVE. this place is everything i've been looking for...the music, the people, the atmosphere...everything is terrific. A friend of mine referred me to Salon Luba a few months ago and I thought i'd give it a shot. I went to her colorist, Angelica, looking for something new but not drastic. After showing Angelica a few pics of what i was looking for we started. I left with hair that looked like it came right out of the picture..i absolutely loved my color. I felt guilty leaving my old colorist and the commute to Jersey from the Bronx was a little much for me so i decided to go back and give him another shot. Needless to say i'm back at Luba and the commute is well worth it...train, bus or car it's right over the bridge off rt. 4
Best Kept Secret. I have been jumping from colorist to colorist all over Manhattan and Queens. After moving to NJ over a yr ago i found a great salon in the Riverside Square Mall. I received a consultation that day with Luba and she directed me to Jennifer. I am a very dark brunette and have been desperate to go blonde without breaking, as it's happened before. I saw her work on her clients that day and every one of them had perfectly placed highlights and lowlights but the hair was still strong and healthy. I couldn't get an appointment til a few days later but it was worth the wait. I am thrilled she was able to lift my color with no breaking and non of that weird red/orange-blonde that i see so many of my Latina grls with. Thanks Jen and thanks Luba for taking your time with me. I am now looking for a new stylist and trust Luba to point me in the right direction.
