Professionalism Non-Existent – Dramatics NYC is where Customer Service goes to DIE. Horrible, Horrible place (23rd Street). I paid for partial highlights and a cut. After 6+ hours, 2 days, 2 "stylists" (Athena the WORST offender) my hair color is just passable and I've still had NO cut. I decided I'd had enough and wouldn't allow them to butcher my hair further.
The staff is inexperienced, rude and entirely cluless as to how to deal with people.
"Professionalism at it's Finest" and "A Must for New Yorkers" it sure IS NOT! Go somewhere else
Amazing Service – I had a wonderful time here with Tibet as my stylist. She is amazing and really helpful. All the staff are professional, funny and great. I'll definitely be coming back here.
Great cut by Tibet ...and a groupon added bonus – I just moved into the area and had been looking for a good place for a haircut. I am definitely a no frills kind of person, just wanted a place that will do a good job, and won't cost me an arm and a leg. I did a bunch of websearches and got mostly positive responses about Dramatics. On top of that, there was a groupon for wash, cut and blow dry for $19 ($60 value)...added bonus. Once I purchased, I called for an appointment and was in there an hour later. People were friendly, and I had stylist Tibet, who was great. I told her exactly what I wanted, and she did just that. I didnt feel like she rushed and she definitely spent a good amount of time on my hair, even though it wasn't anything overly complicated, just a cut and a bit of styling. I will definitely go back to Dramatics, and to Tibet in particular.
Great Groupon Experience – So I was on groupon and saw a deal for a cut, style and blow dry for 19$. I needed a haircut so for 19$ I figured it couldn't get any better. I called right after I purchased it and got an appointment for the same day. That was the first place I was impressed. The staff is very nice and I met Tibet who would be cutting my hair. She accessed the style I wanted and even used a special shampoo for my dandruff. She cut my hair very well and even passed the flat iron through it to appeal to my personal taste. It was a great experience for the price and I will definitely be going back!
I want to compliment the work of Martini! – I have been using this salon and, more particularly Martini's abilities as a colorist and stylist for six months now.
Her work is superior. She is knowledgeable, precise and very creative. I believe my color never looked better and I have been having it colored for years.
The salon is well located, clean and the staff is cordial.
Since I moved to the City 5 years ago, I have been in search of a salon that meets my expections. I have found it on 23rd Street.
Great job on my hair by Jasmin! – I am very particular and fussy about my hair and stylists probably because I had too many not so good experiences, but finding Jasmin in Dramatics NYC on 23rd St. was a blessing. She was very professional, listened carefully to all my concerns, offered her advice and did an absolutely great job on my hair! I walked out with a super looking haircut that suited my round face, lovely highlites and warm colour tones and even gave in to buying $40 worth of professional green tea shampoo/conditioner/stying spray which turned out to be much better than the regular store brands. All-in-all - 3 hours of haircut, half head highlites and colour, professional service and advice, endless coffee/tea/water plus $40 worth of products plus tips plus positive emotions cost me $215! I will be back to Jasmin as soon as needed and recommend this stylist to anyone who wants to look good!
Good Manahattan Salon – Background story: For the last 12 years I've been dying my hair various shades of blonde. I'm mixed and while the color looks good on me, the salon I've been going to was in Spanish neighborhood in Queens that charged about $100 for color, highlights, wash, and blow, but quality of my color looked like that's what I was paying (running highlights, uneven tones, brassy) and I don't speak Spanish well enough to explain to my girl exactly how I wanted it. Actually all I ever said was "rubia" and she gave me her version. Now that I live in the city, I decided I wanted city girl hair, but I can't really afford city girl prices. So my roommate recommended going to Dramatics, right by our apt.
The Consultation: I walked in around 1pm on a Sunday and they told me they wouldn't be able to do my hair today as they were short staff but I could have a consultation and set up an appointment. I met with Martini and was a nervous as I had read some pretty bad reviews about other Dramatics, but she quickly put my nerves at ease. I gave her my whole hair history (I was currently a brunette again) and showed her pictures of my former glory since she looked skeptical. She did a color test to make sure my hair wouldn't be too damaged and make sure it was at the right level that I wanted. She told me upfront it would be $300 which would include a double process (bleach and color) and 1/2 head highlights with a condition treatment. She said it would take about 5 hours, so she would clear her calendar as to not be interrupted and told the receptionist to block her out but depending on where we were when a walk in arrived, she could squeeze in some. We set my appointment for Wednesday.
The Service: I arrived and the first thing the receptionist asked was if I wanted coffee, which was great because I needed some. Then I was handed Starbucks with an apology that they had run out of coffee themselves. Um? Excuse me? That alone made me love the place because, I've never been offered coffee, never mind someone running to get me free Starbucks. Martini started my hair and was absolutely amazing, she asked me questions about it, she explained what she was doing, and had engaging conversation. She was very knowledgeable about coloring, as it seemed to be her specialty. The team was very thoughtful and helped each other out, not to mention the manager, Flex came in and you could tell this was a staff that loved their manager (I work in gym and I know a happy staff means happy clients) In between the color setting and rinse outs, Martini took other clients and for anyone that would be bother by this, you're an idiot! This is a business to make money unless you are dropping $1000 in a $300 salon, there is no need to monopolize their time when they could have been doing 6 clients back to back for three times as much money. As long as my hair was done right, I could care less what was done during it.
The Results: I'm a Blonde-a-holic and the color was just right..to take me to the next level of Blonde, with another set of highlights. By that, I mean I was going from Chocolate dyed on top of 3 years of Blonde and highlights back to blonde and it could have came out a lot darker. Most people think its a lot blonder and less brassy then what I had before but like never being to thin you can never be to Honey Blonde! There was no bleeding of color at my roots (yay) and for the most part it's even (so many colors you can expect it to not be. My hair and previous stylist's fault, not Martinis) Overall, I was pretty satisfied and will be going back for my touch ups..Though for $45 to wash and Blow, I will be hoping on the 7 train back to Queens for my $20 blowouts!
