Tips for NYC Racquet Sports

Buy Local! Woody is worth his weight in GOLD! Exceptional knowledge and service.

My husband and I decided to take up tennis. We did lots of research online and with friends. We considered buying $45 racquets from Amazon, but wanted to buy local. One e-mail to Woody's website convinced me to stop by his store. Right away Woody put a racquet in my hand for my body type, sports history, and grip size. Heavenly! He trusted me to bring two racquets home for my husband to try. That sparked my husband's attention, as he's a choosy athlete. My husband made the trek to the store the next day to meet him and was mightily impressed by Woody's breadth of experience. Woody let us park our bikes in his shop as we chatted. Our racquets were strung in hours and we are thrilled to now hit the courts. We are so thankful to have found Woody in this big city. He saved us from spending money on cheap, ill-fitting beginner racquets ("buy cheap, buy twice"). We are customers for life based on three days of top-notch service. Without reservation, we recommend Woody and his shops!

Best Racket Sports store NYC. This week I was visiting NYC and came across NYC Racquet Sports. I was very happy with the service and selection. I will stop into NYC Racquet Sports the next time I am in NYC.

Racquets, Clothing Apparel & Convenience. I was introduced to Grand Central Racquet, which is the sister store to NYC Racquet Sports about four years ago. Its not always easy to find specific racquet gear in the city as well as get your racquets restrung (Same Day).

What seperates NYC Racquet Sports from every body else, is (service, quality and experience).

Woody the owner of NYC Racquet Sports has an experience staff and a well stocked store. If your looking for advice on racquets and how to improve your game, you should stop by. Its nice to go to a place where your expectations are met all the time.

Best NYC tennis store. NYC Racquet Sports and it's sister store, Grand Central Racquet (East 44th between Madison and Vanderbilt) are throwbacks to a time when store clerks actually knew a little something about the stuff they sold or the services they offered.

In the case of these two stores, the owner, Woody and his staff know a great deal more than "a little something" about tennis (other racquet sports, too, I imagine), they are, in fact, enormously knowledgeable about all things tennis, offer expert advice on racquet and string selection and do a great job restringing, often while you wait.

Good, old-fashioned service, great attitude -- I've been a customer in both of these stores and cannot recommend them highly enough.

Tennis Wonderland. Woody and his staff are the best around.

If you want to talk game, pro's, equipment, they know it all and have everything a fanatic could ask for.

I've been shopping with them for years and always received the best prices and service on the widest variety of merch.

Great stringing & same day service. Awesome!

Best place for tennis. I go here for anything and everything tennis.

They've always given me expert advice on racquet selection, re-strung them promptly (and often on the spot), and also footwear.

They've always matched a price if I've found it cheaper on-line as well.

Highly recommended...

Treated like a PRO. If you know NOTHING about tennis OR u think u KNOW EVERYTHING about tennis, this place rocks. The 35th street location is stocked with all the current merchandise and they are not looking to jam merchandise down your throat or sell u the most expensive stuff.

The staff is friendly, with a sense of humor and they aim to make sure you get what fits your needs (NOT THEIRS!)-whether it's a racquet, shoes, outfits, etc. What's cool is that whether you appreciate the game in broad strokes or subtle nuances, you will be very satisfied

If u love the game, you will love the store
