Tips for Giving Tree Yoga Studio

Yoga Community = Love. I first went to the Giving Tree after someone bought me the one month unlimited new student special a few years ago as a gift. I was having a hard time getting motivated to work out and carve out time to myself after the birth of my son. I ended up finding much more than I could have ever imagined - some of my closest friends and mentors. The Giving Tree is more than a studio. It is a loving community, a sanctuary, a home away from home. Whether you are new to Astoria, or just looking to connect more, spend a little time here. Even if you are brand new to yoga, you will be completely welcome and supported.

This is my favorite yoga studio. I've been to quite a few different yoga studios and this is my favorite spot. I've been going to The Giving Tree for two years now, and what makes it stand out from its competition is its atmosphere and community. I always feel at home when I am here, the yoga instructors pay close attention to each individual's practice, and it is a very welcoming environment. I have developed strong relationships with my yogi peers--many of whom I see off the mat too--whereas at most other yoga studios, people don't even say hi or speak to each other. The yoga studio itself is a beautiful space and clean. My favorite classes are the Wednesday 6:30pm Vinyasa class and the Sunday 4:45pm Chakra class. The two owners make every effort to make The Giving Tree a delightful learning environment. I would definitely recommend this studio, give it a try!

Amazing Community and Amazing Classes. I moved to NYC not too long ago, and was really excited when a friend of mine mentioned a great yoga studio that was close to home. I did a new student trial (3 classes for $25) and loved every class I took! There is something there for everyone, from beginner to advanced. But the best thing about this studio is their sense of community. It was the first place I felt at home in the city.

Excellent from beginner to seriously advanced yoga. A most excellent environment for those whose desire is to achieve the fullest benefits from yoga. This alone is worth making The Giving Tree Yoga Studio your focus daily! Beyond yoga, there are an extensive series of classes available in many other disciplines, including nutritional guidance, massage, etc. Become a member of an extraordinary community within Astoria!

best yoga in astoria. the giving tree is by far my favorite yoga studio in astoria!! the teachers are all creative and they will kick your butt AND take time to give you adjustments to help you practice yoga in the best way for you. the studio has a wide range of classes for all levels and they also have a massage therapist, a reiki specialist, and astrologer, a women's community night, a creative writing class.... the list goes on!!! it is a one room studio with a HUGE heart. i have taken many friends there and they are all hooked!

Amazing classes and community. I love this studio. I've been attending classes at the Giving Tree regularly for the past two years and have watched my practice grow tremendously under the guidance of the teachers here. The classes are open level, so whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you will get something out of it. There is a great variety of classes, and I always find the flows to be really interesting and creative. But what sets this studio apart is, by far, the community. The owner Anne-Margaret has made a real commitment to fostering a sense of community within the studio. The teachers in the classes I regularly attend know me personally, and help me modify and craft my practice in a way that best suits my body and my needs. I have met some of my very dear friends through the studio and am grateful every day for the ability to practice yoga with these amazing people at this amazing place.

Yoga for bullies. If you want to be intimidated into doing yoga when you are way out of shape, this is the place for you.

I'd heard great stuff about the owner Ann Margret. She comes on nice enough and told me even though I was out of shape and needed a beginners class that her class would be OK for me.

No way. She is bootcamp sargent, and made me feel like a total loser for not wanting to try some things that I know are way too hard for me.

I need a yoga class that makes me feel better, not for being a total loser because I can't do all the stuff she can
