West Villiage Filth. What is there to say about this dive other than terrible music, bad service, horrible food and disgusting decor. This was never trendy. If anyone every thought it was they never were in the know either. Go elsewhere! Even go to a Starbucks...much better!
Rude Service and Chalky Lattes.
I liked SLC, but the new management sucks! It was once hip and cool, but now the lattes, atmosphere and food are severely suffering.
It was never a great place, but it was a low rent cafe and that was OK. But, now it is insufferable.
It could be the cold weather, so I will give it a try in the Spring. Plus it is no longer SLC, but Soy...when did the new management happen?
Nice place for a coffee. I had a nice cup of Joe here..sorry I don't have more to say..thats alls I gots!
If you want to get sick, eat here!.
Before eating at Soy Luck Club, you should check out their Restaurant Inspection Information from their last inspection. I did after I got very sick eating at Soy Luck Club, and am DISGUSTED. Here is the link 167.153.150.32/RI/web/detail.do?method=history&restaurantId=41406332
They Scored a 44 (a zero is a perfect score, so a 44 is like a 56% = MAJOR FAILURE).
I have been to Soy Luck Club twice now and have to say the place is average at best. Both times I was there I a soy matte-latte with honey ginger and a #1 pressed bagel with salmon and soy cream cheese. I have to admit that it was yummy both times. However, both times I came home and was VERY sick. I figured that I might have developed a sensitivity to soy milk, which I have read happens to people from time to time. But, after talking to a neighbor who also had a similar experience after eating at Soy, I am convenced that it is not a sensitivity. Because I NEVER get sick drinking a soy latte anywhere else.
My neighbor pointed me to the NYC Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene (listed above). It took a little bit to find them, because there has a been an address change from what is posted on the Soy Luck Club website (it is no longer 115 Greenwich, it is now 1 Jane Street) and the company is listed as the Yos Corp (Yos= Soy spelled backwards). It made my skin crawl. It is no wonder I got sick after reading violations 4/5/6 and 8. EKK!

THE BEST CAFE IN THE WEST VILLAGE, BY FAR!!!.
If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! The food's awesome, the look is hip and happening and the service is consistently wonderful and smiley! I don't know what "wvWriter"'s problem is, but Soy's staff is always lovely and kind; I've never met a more friendly, knowledgeable collage of characters in my life!
I have special, semi-demanding dietary needs, and Kristian has always been there to help me. Garrett, who's adorable, went as far to suggest my new favorite drink--the mate latte!! I take care of 2 young children who can be a handful, and Howard has always been incredibly kind to them--He's a dear!
It baffles me that wvWriter has issues with the staff's "hygiene"--these men are some of the cleaniest men I've seen (trust me, ladies!). If the bitter wvWriter has such personal and mean complaints about the staff of soy--maybe the store is better off without him (quite frankly, he/she is probably a pain in the butt to serve...)
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Everyone go there and get a soyafrost--props to the owner and all who make the experience delicious!
Nightmare on Greenwich Ave..
I am an author who used to frequent this cafe. During its heyday, it was a chic alternative to Starbucks. Unfortunately, the new management is making this place an abject catastrophe. And judging from the old picture here, this profile is seriously outdated. Let me explain how horrible it was just to have lunch there this week.
I heard cacophonous metal music spilling from the entry (they used to play lounge music). I simply picked the tofu salad sandwich with no special requests. A barista with dirty hair and hands, wreaking of an illegal substance and alcohol, stammered through my very basic order. Upon delivery, the low-quality tofu had a refrigerator after-taste, a foul smell and the bread was stale (hardly holistic or good for you, in my opinion).
I asked to speak to the manager and a sweaty, older man named Howard reluctantly ceased his lowly flirtation with a college-aged boy. To make matters worse, this "manager" had poor hygiene, smoker's breath and an equally malodorous personality. He refused to process a refund — even though I witnessed him give freebies to his own friends the whole time.
If you want healthy and flavorful food, just check out menus in the West Village and nearby Chelsea neighborhoods. There are an array of exemplary cafes with better service, prices and REAL ambiance.
love it love it love it.
would like to take a moment to tip my hat to a delicious restaurant in NYC: the Soy Luck Club.
I just had a wonderful tofu salad salad complete with avocado and soy yogurt dill dressing. I also had the most amazing vegan brownie in the world, possibly the universe. They don't even pay me to say that. It's just a fact. I found the regular coffee to be quite yummy. I'm VERY picky about coffee. Nothing in NY is ever good enough. A regular tells me that the coffee is not always so good, but that today's brew deserves a thumbs up.
Worst food in the Village!. Worst food in the Village. I looked at their health violations and after much pain I learned my lesson to NEVER Eat there again. If you want Legionnaires disease, then this is the right place for you
postmodern deco, free wi-fi & green tea. With comfortable seating, free wi-fi and arguably the best Green Tea Matcha blend in the city, its no wonder I've gotten so much writing done at this postmodern cafe wonderland.
I have been a member for 4 years!!.
I have been a member for years and it's great!!! I think they have over 200 members.. That was one unfortunate incident to the below review. They would never intentionally rip anyone off. The membership is great I get 20% off. with $90 dollars I get $110 "soy dollars", one week pass to equinox, 1 hour personal training, 1 free yoga session and discount on Zip Car registration!!.. LOVE IT. I don't have to bring my wallet and many times they let me charge more than i have in my account based on just me being a neighbor.
That is very unfortunate. Talk to them they will def give you back the money. It might be just a transition of staff.
