Tips for Cask Bar & Kitchen

Citysearch Editorial Review. This Murray Hill bar and restaurant attracts a weekday crowd of suits stopping in for a beer after work and local residents and NYU students on weekends. In addition to several rotating casks, the bar also boasts 20 different brews on tap, including the elusive Captain Lawrence IPA and Dogfish 90. The decor is rustic country-style, with tin ceilings, dropped Edison lights, exposed brick and wood beam ceilings in the back dining area. A hodgepodge of wooden mirrors, pictures, books and other antique trinkets complete the theme. The menu includes both standard bar fare and several small plate appetizers (cheese, charcuterie, Kobe sliders and a seafood cocktail trio) which are the ideal size for sharing.

Loved it !!!!. So I recently hosted my fiance's 30th birthday at Cask and I cannot rave enough about this place. Elaine the person I dealt with was amazing. I emailed her almost daily and she was always so quick to respond. They set up a great menu and open bar package for our group. I will definitely have another party here !!!

Nice... if you go to the back. This is a welcome respite in an area filled with meathead sports bars... and pick-up joints for 30-somethings out to score for themselves. The front of the place is a typical meathead, big-chest place, but in back, it's a quiet restaurant with quite inventive food, and decent service. Foods you've heard of, but never in these combinations, turn out to be quite good. Thai curry mussels? Cheesesteak springrolls? Pretzel encrusted crab cakes? I know how it sounds, but really... it's good! Take a chance.

The beer list is just as weird: Southern Tier Hop Sun, Captain Lawrence IPA, Rogue Old Crustacean Brown Nectar. This place is an adventure! We visited the same day Mexico beat France in the World Cup semi-finals... so of course, the kitchen staff was in a good mood. But somehow I got the feeling, it's always like tthis. --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers

Get on board Beer Fans. I first stopped into Cask not long after it opened, and immediately wished I'd done so earlier.

It's a fantastic little jewel-box when you first walk in.

A wonderfully comfortable bar - with plenty of room. An elevated area for dining. And best of all another room downstairs that is perfect for parties.

Speaking of which... recently I found myself in a last minute conundrum where I had to set up a back up location for a weekend gathering.

The staff went above and beyond in responding to my last minute inquiry about using their space.

I would highly recommend this spot for both an impromptu drink with a friend as well as full tour de force with all of your posse.

Amazing beer selections coupled with a great menu that goes beyond the basic pub fare... what's not to love?
