Gloves??. Ok, my whole family LOVES the show Cake Boss. Just one question- why does nobody wear gloves??? You never see them wash their hands at all. No gloves, they scratch their heads and then work on cake, they wipe their hands on their pants then work on cake. The cakes are beautiful! And im sure delicious! But very unsanitary! No hair nets either!! I bet a ton of people find hair and all kinds of things in their cakes! GLOVES PLEASE!! Great show tho!
Very overrated. Carlo's is meh. The staffers have been nice when I've gone, but the cakes are expensive and not in any way exceptional. What sucks the most is the hordes of people who line up outside the place just because it has a TV show (and not a very good one). You want quality pastry and no tourists, go to Sweet or Old German Bakery; they're much, much better.
no big deal. Before this place got famous, there were never any lines. The bakery is just ok. Not good, not bad.
Expected more.. I love the Cake Boss show so my boyfriend took me here. I was really excited. Of course the place was packed and the people from the show were not there. The stuff from the bakery were OK. I expected a whole lot more. I think the popularity of the show killed the taste of the pastries. I dont think they are putting as much effort as they were before.
Dreaming of Cake. I had never had Carlo's before but had heard great things. I order my daughter's Christening cake with them, Although it was alittle confusing over the phone to order ( hectic in the background ) The cake was gorgeous and it tasted amazing !!!!! We had the black and white with hazelnut creme . It was moist and delicious !!! Truly to die for , I cant wait for my next function so I can order another one . Thanks to everyone for making it a memorable day .
best bakery show ever. I LOVE THE SHOW, BUDDY UR A CUTIE. YOUR CAKES ARE AWSOME I LIKE TO TRY ONE. LOOK FOR MY ORDER CIAO
Nice people. Fantastic cake!. Buddy made us a beautiful wedding cake in fall of '08. It was a great experience to go in on a Saturday morning, flip through all the design books over coffee and then sample all the wonderful insides. They delivered exactly as promised and we LOVED it. It was one of the highlights of our wedding. If we had to do it now, I don't know we could afford them anymore. The popularity of the Cake Boss show had made it great for them, but tough for customers who now have to order well in advance for any occasion and wait on lines around the block on Saturday mornings for a danish and a cup of coffee.
Excellent bakery. The staff was lovely and took very good care of us. The desserts are delicious. I go there whenever I am in Hoboken which is about four times a year.
"Sugar & spice and everything NOT nice here!!". We travelled all the way to Hoboken (from Brooklyn) to order a cake for my daughter's 16th birthday celebration because she is a big fan of the "CAKE BOSS" program. Although it wasn't a "creative specialty cake" (they are too overpriced) we settled on a custom cake that did cost over $100, which we paid for in full, 3 weeks prior to our party. One week prior to the event, I phoned the shop to ask to have chocolate covered strawberries placed along the border of the cake -- where the cake sits on the plate, not on the top of the cake. (My daughter & husband forgot to request that when ordering). The woman was so rude and arrogant to me on the phone, shouting (in her best grammar !) "We don't do that NO more!" She wouldn't let me get one word in edge wise, shouting and screaming that I shouldn't tell her how to run her business (which i wasn't, because I wasn't able to say a word with her incessnt shouting in my ear) and telling me that I should mind my own business, etc. She then proceeded to hang up on me when I (finally) was able to state my side. I phoned her back, stating that I was a paying customer, and my request was a) given to her with plenty of notice and b) not unusual or inconvenient in any way. c) I was also THE PAYING CUSTOMER !!!. 'Buddy" the creative force of the show, always states that "we are in the business to make people happy." Well, with rude, obnoxious phone clerks, they certainly did not make this family happy and regardless of how the cake tastes I will NEVER VENTURE THERE AGAIN !!! I also make sure I repeat this story when I hear people saying (after seeing the show) how much they would love to go there etc.
Wedding Cake DISASTER. Although the cake is delicious - the service is not - and neither were the prices. Two days before the wedding, they asked us for MORE money due to "labor" charges added to ou cake that would be performed day of. The day of, they were nowhere to be found. On top of that, the sheet cake we ordered WAS NOT the same color as our wedding cake - they completly forgot the fondant making this sheet cake utterly useless. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
