I saw Dr. Strachan's VI peel video on youtube and promptly went to her website and signed up for their newsletter. I got an email containing a VI peel special with PA, aesthetician or RN for $250. I called up to schedule an appointment and requested a PA. When I arrived for my appointment there was no one in the waiting room and even though I requested a PA, an aesthetician performed my Vi peel. Why bother even mention the PA or RN in the newsletter? A PA did come in to supervise the aesthetician perform the peel, this was to protect their back in case I tried to sue. I will go back for another Vi peel if it's $250.
NY's best dermatologist for all skin types. Dr. Strachan is a highly accomplished dermatologist who is knowledgeable about many skin types and provides outstanding service to her patients. My family and I have been a part of her practice for the last 10 years and have been highly satisfied with her. She keeps abreast of the latest treatments and strives to provide her patients with the best option(s) according to their needs. As the parent of teenagers who are very concerned about their appearance, Dr. Strachan always provides common sense advice about how to properly care for teen skin. My kids always leave feeling better about themselves as they have excellent advice as to how to care for their skin. Thank you Dr. Strachan for sharing your talents with our community.
A great dermatologist!. I have been a patient of Dr. Strachan's for 9+ years. She is very knowledgeable in her clinical domain and poses excellent bedside manner. I have referred my personal and professional circles to her and they all agree she is the best! She provides personalized treatments for various skin types and simply her prescribed products are superior. If you are looking for an excellent dermatologist, look no further, you will not be disappointed.
Dr. Dina Strachan, Leader in her Field. I have been a patient of Dr. Strachan's (or Dr. D as I affectionately call her) for 8+ years. She is a leader in her field, with top notch, multifaceted expertise and excellent bedside manner. I have consistently promoted her practice in my personal and professional circles for one reason only: she is simply excellent! From cosmetic procedures to proactive, preventative and early intervention treatments, her practice covers a wide range of skin concerns and conditions. She remains engaged in progressive research which well informs her practice. If you are looking for the best, you have found it.
Dr. Strachan Good Doctor and Nice Lady. Dr. Strachan is a good solid doctor and a nice person. I have been going to her for at least 5 years now, and although I do not live in New York, I make it a point to see her when I travel from Europe to the US. She has treated me on a range of issues, each time with careful knowledge, personal attention, and great results. Although there are plenty of dermatologists in London, no one I have tried there compares to Dr. Strachan in my opinion.
Don't Go To Anyone Else!. I've been a patient of Dr. Strachan's for about three years. Her practice is very well run and well organized. She's treated me for medical problems and cosmetic procedures, and I trust her advice completely. I usually see Dr. Strachan during my lunch hour, and I've never waited long for an appointment. I'm always back at the office in plenty of time. She is very friendly, professional and incredibly knowledgeable. I know that if she recommends a product or procedure it's because she believes it is best for me and not because some drug company is pushing it. I wouldn't go to anyone else for my skin care needs.
Poor patient care. Horrendous experience. No eye contact, 3 minutes (no kidding) spent writing me a prescription. Didn't answer my questions, and plugged some skin care line which probably lines her pockets. Bedside manner of a wall street broker for which she is better suited. People with no interpersonal skills and who just want a money machine have no business in an industry which should be about healing.
A cautionary tale.
I went back to seek her expert advice on products I should use, other medications I could take, and possibly get another peel as I did see great results with that in the past. I went to her on 5/2/11 and I waited to see for 2 HOURS! I honestly couldn't believe it. In the past, I always saw her within 10 mins of walking into the office.
When I finally did see her she told me to take desonide again b/c I had face dandruff basically. I was told to come back in 2 weeks where she would assess my face and then I would begin taking tazorac again...this time a lighter dosage b/c of my problems with it in the past.
I came back 2 wks later and waited an hour and a half. Again, I was prepared b/c of what happened last time but it was still a little unnerving. All my other doctor's have never had me waiting that long. But it allowed me to catch up on a book so I was good. She came in, said well the desonide worked so start the tazorac and was headed towards the door! I mean it took me longer to type it then the whole interaction! Listen, I understand busy, I work 12-14 days typically, but c'mon, you gotta let me ask a question. So I said well let's talk about the tazorac for a sec and are there any alternatives. She looked at me with such disgust and said well you took the desonide and it worked didn't it?? So its been TWO WEEKS right? So aren't you supposed to start it after two weeks? I mean I was totally dumbfounded. She did a Jekyll and Hyde transformation right in front of my eyes! I said I understand the concept of the Rx and that I was supposed to start in 2 weeks which is why i'm here. I just want to quickly talk about what this new rx of tazorac is going to do for my skin...will it take away blemishes? She said well you don't have that many blemishes, you have acne and big pores (as she pointed to diff spots on my face). I said ok, when I said blemishes I just was referring to everything. Will the tazorac take care of everything? She well NO, you have to do a peel for the pores and do this and that...I said well that is exactly the type of info I am looking for. Why do I have to badger u for it?? I said I DO NOT appreciate your tone of voice, I do not know who you are speaking to like that but I am a patient and have the right to have my questions heard. I was on the verge of tears on my way to the elevator and actually contemplated going back to confront her. I have made a lot of changes in my life so the old Jeanine would have caused quite the scene in there, however, I said a prayer and released the situation. I have NEVER been treated like the bottom of someone's shoe like that. Oh and after rolling her eyes at my questions, telling me I'm not getting it so the convo should end, she walked out of the room and slammed the door on me!
Dr. Strachan, if you are reading this, please understand I am not a meek or stupid person. I am a female who works in the construction industry for heaven's sake! I am also not looking for a friend in a doctor. But, to say to me you are making this more difficult than it has to be and this is all simple...yes it is simple, TO YOU, and I can see that you are frustrated by probably treating the same issues over and over again. But that is what doctors do. You were rude, arrogant, hurtful, dismissive and thoughtless. I can't chalk it up to having a bad day when I see reviewers on other sites discussing almost identical experiences with you. When I walked out the wait room was packed and no telling what time you got out of there. I understand being overworked. But at some point when do you just stop taking new patients so that you can focus on care. Maybe you will see the reflection of yourself in the anxiety of your patients that you have caused and make a change.
