“The ambience is great, but it's not good for big groups.”
“bring a bottle of your favorite wine, order tasty apps (I recommend the spicy wontons and scallion pie), an entree, and dessert, and your bill will be no more then $60-70 (for 2 ppl).”

“The soups are delicious and the appetizers are worth trying all of them once.”
Great food & service, tight space. After reading the 3 reviews posted, I felt committed to write a review as I've been dining at Tina Louise for many years. First off, I don't know where Lucklin is coming off saying that take out Chinese food is better. The food here is 10 times better then any Chinese food take out place I've tried.... for instance, after I eat Chinese take out I feel full & bloated, whereas at Tina Louise (I'll eat the same amount of food as take out Chinese) I leave feeling satisfied, not bloated. The food is tasty and very well proportioned. Also, the 'loud lady' Lucklin is referring to is Louise, one of the co-owners. If you refer to her as the 'loud lady in the front', obviously you don't know her, and in turn, she probably doesn't know you! Fool. I don't want this review to come off as a bash to Lucklin's comments but in a way I do, because the food is great, as well as the service. Tina Louise is great for a romantic date... bring a bottle of your favorite wine, order tasty apps (I recommend the spicy wontons and scallion pie), an entree, and dessert, and your bill will be no more then $60-70 (for 2 ppl). Try finding a great Chinese restaurant around the area or in NYC for that price... chances are you won't. Be sure to make reservations and be prompt because they won't save the table. PS ? try Tina Louise?s brother & sister restaurants: Village Gourmet, Mignon Steakhouse, both in Rutherford, and Tao?s in East Rutherford.
Try it, you'll like it!. This is one of my all time favorite places. It is small, intimate and the food is excellent. The prices are really reasonable, and the portions are good enough to fill you, but not too big where you stuff yourself. The soups are delicious and the appetizers are worth trying all of them once. Service is quick and friendly. The ambience is great, but it's not good for big groups. The space is small, but everything else is worth it. I've been going for years. They are very accommodating in making the entrees spicy or less spicy and they also give you no trouble to substitute. I've brought everyone who loves Asian food here, because I know it will be great!
Worse food...Any take out restaurant is better. How do I begin, I use to go to this place many times when it was Chow Inn take out restaurant, the food was okay, now the prices are TRIPLE..I would pay $4-$6 for a dish now it's $15-$25. I figured I would give the new restaurant a try since it was rated so high..Well the same nasty loud "old" lady is at the front and the food taste the same. When I entered the restaurant I said hi, she acted like she never say me before, which is ok, it's been a while, then I told I her I used to come here all the time then she YELLED and I mean YELLED in front of the everyone I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT..I was mortified...I didn't even eat my $15 meal because I honestly believe she's nasty enought to do something to my food. Someone in the restaurant yelled out, hey she's in a good mood today, normally she YELLS LOUDER. Any how I tried the other folks food and it tasted the same as CHOW INN...Don't waste your money, cause she's laughing all the way to the bank $$$$$
Excellent...and at a great price!!!. This restaurant is well-rated in Zagat. I have been there numerous times and never leave disappointed. For the price, you can't get better food. BYO keeps the price down. Keep in mind this is not a kid-friendly restaurant, though. There aren't a lot of tables as it is small and intimate inside -- which is really part of it's charm. All in all, this is a relatively well-kept secret around here.
