This casual spinoff from Alex Stupak's Empellon Cucina has exactly the same kind of intensely flavorful, completely original Mexican food of its parent, but in a more relaxed setting and with a smaller menu. All the tacos are first rate but don't miss the lobster one, which is something of a relevation.

Perfection every time!. I've been a loyal customer of Empellon since the day they opened. All i can say is that as strange as it sounds, each time i come here it seems like my favorite dishes are becoming tastier and tastier. They also constantly add knew dishes (although i usually stick to my favorites - roasted beet salad, queso fundido, lobster tacos (obscene amount of lobster), scallop tacos, or tongue tacos. Also, the orange salsa that comes with the guac is pure heaven. I always hold on to it for my entire meal and put it on everything. Beside great food, they also have some of the best cocktails. Not the overly sugary kind (think bad lycheetini). The Por Que No is the perfect blend of flavors. Plus, they have tequila and frankly they give you a fast buzz. And if you actually still have room - any of the desserts are delciious (fav is the chocolate "flan" - although its the farthest thing from flan. More like a mousse.

NYC's best mexican food!. Most creative and delicious taco's I have ever enjoyed... The service was fantastic and the restaurant has a fun casual dining vibe... I'll definitely be back

If You like Live Music and Entertaining Show after Dinner.... After an awesome dinner at Empellon, a great place to go is The Griffin to Michael Fredo's Wednesday night party. They have a great show and an open bar from 8-9:30. Free admission too. Michael Fredo with The Benny Reid Ensemble is a great Jazz/ Ratpack show. 50 Gansevoort @ Greenwich
