Just Don't Go........Awful, Just Awful
This is perhaps the least customer accommodating restaurant I have come across in my 20+ years in the city. They think they are doing you a favor to have you eat there. Really incredibly off-putting attitude, and "dicey" behavior when it comes to reservations and billing at the end of the meal.
Just yesterday Erminia dishonored a reservation we had made via Savored. I have never had a restaurant EVER do this -- EVER!!! The restaurant claimed they "never got the email", but in fact, I believe they have an OpenTable terminal, and I believe this gets automatically updated via the internet for online reservations.
Frankly, my surmise is the restaurant was surprised on a Wed. evening to have other patrons call in for full priced reservations, and then decided they would dishonor our discounted reservation. This is after I showed the Maitre 'd the prinout of the reservation.
They did absolutely nothing to try to make the situation better, and basically, in so many words said: "not our problem". The Maitre 'd frankly was rude, and completely and totally unaccommodating in any fashion, being there with my girlfriend for what I expected would be a special evening.
In an earlier visit a month ago, the food was fine, but nothing to write home about. (I also note on that occasion, though they deigned to seat my friend and myself, ie they accepted the Savored reservation then, but "forgot" to apply the agreed upon discount. They corrected this, but you have to watch these guys as they seem a bit shady, like they are from Naples or something.
There are many, many fine Italian restaurants in NYC, and this one, though slightly above average, is really an incredible disappointment with poor service and frankly really non-customer friendly attitudes. Trust me, this place is not worth the aggravation for food that is not over the top better than just so many authentic Italian restaurants in the city. Management/ownership of this restaurant should reassess how poorly they interact with customers.
So rude, so arrogant, so sad, and so unnecessary!!!!!.
This was so sad.
The arrogance when trying to make a reservation should have told me what to expect, or told me not to go at all.
The romantic atmosphere? What romantic atmosphere?
To be told that Bloomspot coupons were not accepted on Fridays, when in fact they are, should also have been a tipoff of what to expect.
Then when we arrived we were told we should have looked at the menu on the Bloomspot site rather than expect them to have to explain it to us. And then we discovered that the Bloompspot only covered a two course meal, not a three course meal as is normally the case.
The distance of and the arrogance of the waiters until it was time to pay the bill should have been another tipoff.
But then the reality hit me after leaving the restaurant. It hit when the restaurant called me to tell me that we had not left a sufficient tip, and if i did not want to adjust the tip upward, "please don't come back to our restaurant."
No problem.
We won't.
And you shouldn't go the first time.
What a ripoff. What a sad experience.
