Abhorrent.
First, let's start with the service. After my girlfriend and I were seated, we were ignored and had to ask our waiter to come by. Our waiter was rude and inattentive. He would snap his fingers at the hard working bus boys while failing to refill our glasses. I couldn't figure out whether the waiter was inexplicably pretentious or just plain old ignorant. At the end, we had three other waiters servicing our table while our original waiter sat nearby and ate his food. He didn't even have the decency to deliver the check or thank us for coming. The service was bad enough to never come back here again.
Second, we ordered an assortment of appetizers and one big dish of seafood, called the Grand Plateau. The appetizers were pretty good until the grand plateau arrived - was completely inedible. It was abhorrently fishy and smelled like the bottom of a toilet. I should have sent it back and not paid a penny but I decided to let it go.
In sum, the service was more detestable than the $70 grand plateau. Suffice to say, I will never eat at the Water Club again.
Very nice family oriented restaurant.
Had a lovely sunday brunch with great views of the river.
Friendly service. Buffet food!! Some is good and some is not as good. Great desserts!!! Defenitively paying for the view. Could use some improvement on the quality of food for what you pay.
Awesome Sunday Brunch. The sunday brunch hear rocks. I came here a while back with some friends to try their sunday brunch, I was not disappointed. They're brunch buffet has everything from seafood to eggs benedict. I definitely will be back for their sunday brunch
fab wedding location fab food and fab service couldnt ask. superb food and so much of it wine flowed all night and music choice was perfect
Good food started with the basket of warm bread.
The menu had pretty good options for Restaurant Week. The dressing on the avocado salad was a bit salty. The cream used to top the dessert had a weird oily feel. These would be the only complaints. The good food started with the warm breads on the table. The lobster bisque and cocktail appetizers were good. The steamed lobster, hanger steak and codfish entrees were very nicely prepared. The chocolate layer cake and key lime pie were delicious. I didn't care too much for the strawberry shortcake.
All the window seats were taken by the time we arrived for our reservation at 6:15pm so we had a banquette by the wall. The place filled up rather quickly and with more people, the sound level rose, though not to an unpleasant level.
very bad seriously. bad VER BAD SERVICE...VERY RUDE AND i DON'T KNOW JUST OLD PEOPLE...BUT THAT'S NOT THE IMPORTANT PART AND i SORRY BUT I FELT THAT WERE LIKE RACIST EVEN IF U R WHITE O BLACK OR CHINESSE OR LATINO...SO DON'T GO THERE...THE FOOD SUCKS....
A Great February Birthday!!!. My wife surprised me for my birthday and had me drive right up to the door before I knew that this restaurant was the surprise. I had never heard of it although I take the FDR often enough. There was a valet that took our car immediately so no search for parking. We were seated immediately by a host who knew of us without reading a guest list. The ambience is beautiful. There was a live pianist. The food was great. I ordered from the pre fixe menu which is anything but cheap in quality for $35. The tomato soup appetizer was "assembled" right in front of us. The chicken breast was a hearty, flavorful proportion and the layered chocolate cake was a symphony of rich nutty flavor. Did I mention sterling silver utensils? I had some great gourmet coffee and a glass of white wine. In total our bill( I snuck a peek) was $86 and well worth it. Most people sat at the window but you can see the east river from anywhere in the resaurant. The wait staff was courteous and they checked in with us often. We lastly took pictures by the fireplace lounge and we were unrushed and completely comfortable the whole time. THe host even took the picture for us and offered to take as many as my wife deemed "cute". I had an unforgettable birthday there and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a truly fine dining experience.
Staff was great, food wasn't. My friends and I went here for restaurant week. The bartender and staff was awesome but the food was not up to par. For the appetizer, all 9 of us ordered the crab soup - which ended up being flavorless and had an after-kick to it. For the entree about half of us ordered the lamb and while the rest ordered the chicken and salmon. The lamb was bland & overcooked, the olive sauce was just horrible. No one enjoyed their dinner. Dessert was a little bit better - we had the chocolate cake & the apple tart but by then no one wanted to eat anymore.
Great Lobster, nice atmosphere but pricey. I can not agree with all the negative reviews on this site. We had a 40th Birthday celebration for a friend of mine and the service, food were excellent. The entire staff was friendly and attentive to our needs and all of our dinners arrived on time and cooked exactly as ordered. The 2lb lobsters were worth every penny. Served tableside, cleaned and shelled, all we had to do was dip in butter. We were treated very, very well and the staff made this 40th birthday celebration very special. Yes, this place is pricey, but for sure it is one of those places for special occassions. I would recomend this place to anyone. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
