“The backbone is the quality of the food, which is typically quite decent.”
“Their menu is broad and the food decent.”
“If they have changed their staff, I think this is a good place because their prices are great and the food is decent.”
“First time I stayed in NY at the New Yorker I found this place and go back every trip, I love their breakfasts but am not really into diner food so have only ever eaten there in the mornings.”
“First off, horrible service.”
“The prices are good too.”
“This place is the perfect place for hanging out after a long night out.”
The best thing about the Tick-Tock diner is, obviously, it's name and general appearance, but it's a rock-solid place in its ability to deliver all the great diner standards: meat loaf, club sandwiches, jello, you name it.
Superb Deiner. The food here is great, and the burgers to die for. Granted, its still a diner, so maybe I loved it so much because my expectations were so low, but either way, this place tastes good!
Convenient Diner. Typical diner. Lots of things on the menu. Food is good. Service is friendly.
great cheap food and pleasant service!. I stayed at the New Yorker Hotel and had breakfast at the diner downstairs. The server was very pleasant Polish lady who was funny and entertaining. The food is a great deal for what you pay. Definitely recommend it.
Great Service and Good Food.
Today we were at Tick Tock Diner, we had Pancakes with Bacon and eggs, coffee to go with it.
We will like to compliment a woman of Polish decent, her name is Boggena, very professional woman. Her service was excellent, she serves with pleasure, was very kind and co-operative with us in our ordering.
Because of her outstanding Wait, we will be coming again as soon as next week.
The food was and the Coffee was fantastic, we will like you to commend Boggena for her kind service---you do have a great servant working with you.
Thanks for your patience of the reading of my complimentary letter to Miss Boggena.
truely yours
James
Folks, ITS A DINER! Fast Food, and Terrible Service (but with a SMILE!) Give it right back, and you'll love it.. Folks, its a Diner! Fast Food, Terrible Service (with a smile), and a laugh. Give it right back to them with a SMILE AND LAUGH, and you'll get the BEST service. I never have a problem, and I've eaten there many times. I have business meetings there, and social meetings there. Its convenient to Penn Plaza, and they are patient as all heck. The foods to be expected, and the odor's too boot. I would recommend sitting as far away from the kitchen to that point (ie: by the windows). In any case, I recommend the Tick Tock to anyone needing some food in a hurry, and a seat, as well as anyone needing time to sit, and talk.
worst service ever, subpar food.
Well, we decided to go to the Tick Tock to celebrate a birthday for a friend since she was staying at the New Yorker and we wanted a quick dinner. First off, horrible service. I cannot even begin to describe it. One of the first orders requested a Sprite, and our server said no Sprite was available. When he got to me, Sprite was suddenly available. The wrong food came out, and the food came out before our drinks did and when we asked about our drinks he was rude and he would make a fuss about it. When I requested for my check, he slammed the menu down at the adjacent table, mumbled some choice words. Obviously, I was miffed about this. So I refused to tip because of the terrible service. I complained to the manager, came back to my table and the server came up to me telling me that tip wasn't included in which I agreed, I didn't put any. He then proceeds to point his finger two inches away from my face saying, "YOU CAN GO TO MCDONALDS NEXT TIME"....never in my life have I been treated with the utmost disrespect. I complained to the manager once more and he didn't seem to care at all.
Never going back. Save yourself the money from the subpar food and ATROCIOUS service.
Pie With mold. My boyfriend and I lived in the city all our lives. New Years eve we want to this diner to get a little something to eat. I know it a burger Joint and I love burgers . The food is good standard food you can say . But then i ask for a pie with ice and whip cream I was eating the pie sharing with my boyfriend, Then i flipped it over it was covered in MOLD Black mold dots . OMG i WAS SO upset. Dont leave a tip . Just watch out for the mold.
Second Visit Not So Good An Experience. First visited Dec 2006. This visit was not very good. My husband and I asked for a booth and the waiter was very put out that we weren't seated at a table. He was arguing with his manager and kept pointing towards us. Made me feel very uncomfortable. When he finally came to the table I asked him if he was upset we were sitting at a booth instead of a table. He said "well, as long as you're ordering dinner". My husband asked him what difference that made. There were several tables and booths open, so I don't know what his problem was. I told him that he really made me feel unwelcomed and wasn't sure I wanted to stay. He changed his tune a little bit and we did stay. The food was good, but his attitude left a lot to be desired. Then while we were eating, some drunk was bothering two women and it took forever for them to get security to come and when the security guard finally showed up he was just trying to reason with the drunk, which got him nowhere. It caused quite a scene. Finally he got him to start heading out, then he came over to our table and my husband told him to get out. I'm not sure I care to go back after this visit.
BEST SERVICE IMAGINEABLE!!!. I dont know what the people below me are taking about however, I found the place to have a beautiful environment and the food was absolutely delicious!!!. There was one thing that distinguishes the Tick Tock from other diners and that is definetely the service!!. Our server SHAMMY possessed a professional level of service rarely seen among waiters in our times. Not only did he bring us our food with a smile on his face from cheek to cheek but he also conversed with our group and had a lot of valuable things to say. Personally it was like we had our own friend sitting right there beside us joining us for breakfast!. Shammy is the best server at the Tick Tock diner and if you go there make sure you ask for him and leave him a huge tip!!!. His service is beyond amazing!!!
HORRIBLE SERVICE. I have been here twice and both time had HORRIBLE Service! This time it was some really big funny looking guy that has nothing better to do than wait tables, get a real job! He was so rude to me and my friend and sooo slow. Don't even bother tipping. All of the servers are so Rude
