WORST KOREAN FOOD I'VE EVER HAD! – Wow, its really rare for food to be this bad when you were famished before your meal.
Being Korean from So. Cal, I realize I'm spoiled with Korean BBQ. But after 3 yrs in NY, by now I've learned not to expect much. Despite cautious expectations and a raging appetite, this is by far the worst food and service I've EVER had.
This is the only place where we could find dduk bo ssam (rice wrap for BBQ) so we tried it.
We paid $60+ for 2 women. Reasonable if you loved your meal. DISGRACEFUL if it was awful.
We asked for one order of $20 chadol baegee bbq meat, but were told there was a min. of 2 orders for bbq. I get it, the grills are hard to clean. Fine. We ordered two chadols and kimchi jigae (kimchi stew).
When the meat came out, both orders came on one medium plate. Paltry and disappointing. The kimchi jigae tasted somewhat sweet (its not supposed to) and was completely inedible. We sent it back and instead of taking it off the bill, they had us pick another dish. We asked for yoo ggae jang, which was mediocre.
We were completely dissatisfied, so we left an 8% tip and as we walked downstairs the waiter came down after us and asked if something was wrong then suggested that, you know, we should leave more money because they have to split tips. Well, the food was awful and you didn't check in on us once. So, you deserve it.
After telling him off, I thought of my mother waiting tables in my childhood and reluctantly gave him a five.
Now I'm mad at myself.
Delicious Korean – After finding this on Citysearch, my wife and I went with a group of friends after having made a reservation a week prior. Everything went smoothly when we showed up and we had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the service was attentive without being annoying. We'd definitely go back again.
Horrible everything, dont know why they still here. – hostess was rude on the phone when trying to make a reservation.
waitress was rushing everything. telling us to hurry up and order. waiter was shoving the dishes onto the table until it fell over on the other side. then in the middle of eating..we were obvioiusly not done yet, ..they put one orange on a small plate cut into 5 pieces onto the table for 10 people. with the check. paid the bill and continued to polish off the plates. waiter comes by a few times to try and clean the table and i had to yell at him "i'm still eating that!"
....food tasted horrible and kinda pricey.
...service was rude
i would give a rating of ZERO stars if it was allowed.
horrible staff, bad food, rude service – made an appointment for 6 o clock and on a friday, the receptionist was like . "dont be late"..how rude is it to say that! arrived promptly at 6 with a few members of the party 5-10 minutes past the hour. waitress was rushingus to order. the place was so empty. the food came really fast. one right after the other..didnt even have time to finish the first plate. there were no room on the table. waiter was just shoving the dishes onto the table, almost knocked my drink onto me if it wasn't for my quick reflexes. then in the middle of eating..we were obvioiusly not done yet, cept maybe one or 2 people were done eating cuz they didnt want to eat anymore. ..they put one orange on a small plate cut into 5 pieces onto the table. we had a party of 10. with the check included. didn't think much about it and paid the bill and continued to finish off the food and the waiter comes and says "it's a friday nite. we're a little busy.." before he can continue, i just looked at him and said..."can't you see i'm still eating here."...that scared him off....never going back there....food sucked but i dont like to waste food....service was rude....totally was not worth the money they charging...DO NOT RECOMMEND
Seoul Garden – This is definitely one of the most underrated restaurants in K-Town, in the sense its not as well known as some of the other big names on the street. The food is spectacular, the service is prompt and quick, and the prices won't set you back too badly. Its not easy to find right away, since the restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the building. Its always been crowded each time I've gone, packed full of the Korean patrons and the BBQ odor isn't so strong. Highly recommend for groups to either call ahead of time or get there before the dinner rush starts. The Korean BBQ and kimchi chiggae is some of the best in NY.
