The Eighth Avenue Blarney Stone is in many ways the quintessential New York old-time Irish Bar. The steam tables are filled with corned beef and pastrami, and the room is filled with local workers, as opposed to mindless, shreiking bros six months out of Duke. Hopefully it stays that way.
Not the place for me. I hate to sound like an old man, but if I were 18 and wanting to get drunk as cheaply as possible, this would be the place for me. Now that I have a little bit of money and want to relax, sit at a table, enjoy a solid meal and not worry the entire time about my personal safety, I never step a foot in this place. Any place that needs multiple bouncers is not a place I want to be.
Top Notch for Ranger Fans. As a Rangers season ticket holder, I always make sure to stop in at the Stone for a pre-or post game bite or sip. Friendly, efficient service, killer sandwiches and reasonable prices make this place the site to see and be seen if you're a Blueshirt Backer!
