Very impressed!. I was referred here after Best Buy didnt carry what I was looking for...turns out B&H didnt either--BUT I got an amazing deal on a different digital camera and am very happy. But What I am so impressed about was the service and knowledge of the sales staff at B&H. Very informative and patient, no high pressure sale.. Kerri in new cameras was SO incredible, I highly recommend both him and B&H to anyone looking to buy a camera this year. The referb department was slightly less helpful, but got me a good price. Plus the sheer size of the store is impressive, I want to go back just so I can browse all the aisles! Just pay attention to their hours of operation though--B&H is closed on weekends! And Fridays they close at 1pm!
my favorite big electronics store. they simply have everything. i love them so much. unfortunately its a bit busy so the personal attention is not as good as at a smaller store but still an amazing experience
Get Digitalized.
B&H Photo has everything you need for photography. The staff here is very knowledgeable regarding anything that has to do with Visual and Audio Equipments. Which is so important. When it comes to buying these kinds of products you want to make sure that you are making an educated decision regarding your purchase.
I love pictures and always have, I figure it has alot to do with the fact that my mom took pictures of her six kids throughout every single day of our lives. This woman has pictures galore and I'm talking about the time when pictures were "analog". Wooow.. Way back when...
But this place keeps you up to date with the most current and advanced technology.
This is a superstore filled with Professional Audio Equipment, Computers, Home Entertainment Systems, even Video Surveillance. Its amazing all the great stuff they have here. From mid range to high end equipments. I bought my Canon 60D here and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Talk about keeping up with technology, B&H now has an app for iPhone and Android.
You have to go!.
B&H Photo is definitely the “go to” place for camera’s and accessories. They literally have everything, and the staff knows almost everything, and if they don’t – they find out, which I love BTW. But they also have lots of other cool stuff, ranging from the latest and best tech gadgets to headphones and electronic gear. I actually got lost, not literally, but I lost time wandering from section to section.
Anyway, I’ve been there on weekdays and Sunday, and frankly your best bet is to hit it on the weekdays, because it’s so much better in terms of crowds. One of the few downsides is that they're closed on Saturdays.
Also, while it may be tempting to think that they are overpriced before you go, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn they’re not.
Get Your Camera Here!.
Back in December I was looking to upgrade my camera. Though I loved my little Sony, it wasn't taking the quality of pictures that I wanted. Now that I have a little munchkin in the house, I'm am constantly shooting away and I want the photos I take to look professional.
My husband decided to take me to B&H so that we could look at cameras together. We did a little research before we arrived so we new we wanted an SLR with a zoom lens but other than that we knew nothing. I was very into photography in my past life so I wanted something that had both automatic and manual settings. And so, this is what we told the man behind the counter. He listened carefully to our requests and then began to show us different cameras that met our criteria, one at a time. He took his time to explain the features and shared both the upside and downside to each camera. We went back and forth between the two Nikon cameras and finally decided on the D90 because you can take video with it. Overall our experience was wonderful.
Was B&H crowded while we shopped for our new camera? Yes, of course it was. I personally don't look at this as a negative. If everyone keeps flocking there than they must be doing something right. This is NY people-Expect Crowds!
B&H Photo in a Flash.
This place has everything for the photographer! I saw so many things I wanted to get, some of which I did not even realize that I wanted until I saw them! The place is quite crowded, and a bit frantic. B&H's massive specialty camera and electronics store is like Santa's workshop--merchandise shuffling overhead on conveyor belts--and an experience in itself. If you're in NYC and you're a photo person, you should definitely stop in just to say you’ve been there.
A photographer's mecca. B&H is a great photography source. They have hard to find supplies and paper. B&H is also very helpful if you call in access via the internet.
Customer service is excellent and the return policy is fair - I had to return items several times and the process was always smooth. I was apprehensive about making my purchase with them since it was a high price item (Nikon SLR), but I must say, I was extremely impressed by their service. They called me to verify my order after I placed it. Also, the price dropped on the camera the same day I ordered it and when I called them, they gave me the lower price without me having to ask for it. Very pleased by their service, definitely will order from there again..
Camera heaven!. B&H is definitely a heaven for all creative professionals. The only location in new york city with so much inventory that there is always something for someone in store. The prices are really cheap compared to other locations. the store itself is very interesting with all the conveyor belts moving over your head and feels like a game in itself to follow one of the packages to its final destination. Customer service is great and feels personal when needing real answers to all of your questions. Overall, it's a great place to shop and be with other creative professionals looking for the best products available.
Bad Customer Service.
Since B&H return policy doesn't cover shipment of items being returned, I walked to the Customer Service office from work at lunch time for 20 mins in the freezing cold. It was precisely 12:59pm when I was standing behind the glass door knocking on it and looking at the representatives and 1 last customer. They didn't bother to even look at me - needless to say they did NOT open the door. As it turned out, they close at 1pm on Fridays. I respect religious traditions, but 1). The customer care representative who I talked on the phone and asked if I could make my return at the store did NOT mention anything about short day schedule on Fridays! 2). It was 12:59! 3). A seller THIS big located in the busy NYC should have a standard business schedule to avoid 'surprises' to its valued (?) customers! 4). B&H prices and return policy are NOT that great to treat customers like that! It was so cold outside they could've let 1 last customer in before they close. It was NOT past 1pm yet!
I doubt I will ever shop at B&H again.
Expert Camera Store Sports Selection, Deals and Free Candy.
B&H's massive specialty camera and electronics store is like Santa's workshop--merchandise shuffling overhead on conveyor belts--and an experience in itself. Just steps from the generic Herald Square shopping area sits a bastion of helpful, informative and non-pushy camera experts--on the phone or in-store. Sweet little gratis Starburst-like candies dot display cases throughout the floors.
For a sweeter deal, hit the refurbished camera selection, direct from manufacturers like Nikon and Canon complete with 4GB cards, camera case, original packaging and accessories from $80. (Note: They won't tell you why it's "refurbished" though sometimes it's brand-new, only discontinued. You have three months to return this equipment.)
Camera pros love the trade-in program, where all equipment must be in "total working order," for cash or store credit.
Best professional camera store period!!. This is a must come store for all your camera needs regardless if your are a novice or a professional. Prices are the best in the city and they always have the newest products first!! Only issue is that it's so big and so packed with people that you might lose yourself in there.
