As a former marketer I can confirm that they have SEO experts whose only job is to hide all negative reviews of them, create fake positive reviews, and flag all exposes of their scam (and Jon Gabel/Andrew Fox's despicable treatment of customers & employees) as inappropriate. Notice ALL positive reviews of Joonbug are by people with NO review history, whereas most negative truths (except mine) are by actual active reviewers.
Don't buy their scam products. Don't take a job there -- every year they hire a new crop of college grads, work them til midnight every day paying no over time, promising raises -- then come new years they fire everyone. Not to mention the rampant sexual harassment by the management (Jon, Andrew).
Is there any group getting together for a class action lawsuit against Joonbug or Cravetickets regarding New Year's Eve? They sell non refundable tickets that they cannot deliver in a reasonable fashion (3 hour line on a winter night wrapping around 7th ave 6th ave 32nd and 33rd streets). Unacceptable.
WORST NEW YEAR EVER! – I wish i didnt have to rate ONE star. I travelled from the UK to New York for my first time and booked tickets through cravetickets (paid $320) for an 'ALL INCLUSIVE BAR' well after being the polite english girl i am i queued for 2 hours for a drink that was never served, there was no organisation NOTHING. It ruined a trip id spent thousands on, i have emailed and called for my money back or some sort of compensation and got no reply. The new years eve event was at district 36, i paid $320 plus coat check to stand in a line for 2 hours, i then left. Absolute Wank.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! – Purchased tickets to New Year's Eve party at Marquee in Manhattan. I paid $110 for a ticket. We got to the club at 8:30pm and waited on line for over 3 hours in the cold. While we were waiting outside, the bouncers were offering to let people in for an extra $25!! We finally got in at 11:30 and the place was so packed, you couldn't move much less get close to the bar. Around 12:15am we couldn't take the pushing and overcrowding so we decided to leave. I contacted Marquee to tell them about the bouncers trying to extort money from us and the fact that they obviously had oversold the tickets. They said it was Joonbug's responsibility. I contacted Joonbug via email and their response was it was Marquee's problem. So neither organization was willing to take responsibility. I then explained about the overcrowding and that our night was totally ruined and I wanted a refund. They said all they could give me was $25 which just about covered my train fare. I wish I had done my research before I spent $110 on a ticket. Lots of negative posts online about this organization!!!!
joonbugs not a scam – i went to horror on the hudson this year and had the time of my life. i got there early and on time like you should for any party in the city expecially on halloween and had no problem gettin in. it doesnt take much but common sense to realize that if you show up to any club anywhere at midnight you are going to have to wait in line and probably spend an hour being miserable but hopefully u all learn from your mistakes and next time go early like me. i already bought my tickets for nye from joonbug and cant wait to see if they can outdo halloween.
No problems – I got into Pier 92 on Halloween and had a blast. It was exactly what I expected. The wait outside was long but worth it. A friend recommended me because I never knew how to get into this events before. It was a fun night and I didn't have any hassles.
Amazing Halloween at Capitale! – My girlfriends and I were so excited to go to a Masquerade party this year and thankfully our high expectations were met when we walked into Capitale. The venue was beautiful and it was amazing to see so many people go all out with their costumes. We made our reservations earlier so that we could get our own table...which is definitely something we'll plan on doing next year. The music was great, the staff was friendly, overall my halloween experience with joonbug was a success! Thanks so much guys!
Joonbug fan – I’m surprised to hear all the negative reviews about Joonbug. I go to their weekly event at the Collective and always have a great time! I also went to one of their Halloween events last year at Irving Mills and didn’t have any issues considering the fact that my friends and I had bought tickets last minute- we got plenty of drinks at the open bar, dj was good and got some great costume shots!
Halloween on Pier 92 – My friends and I got tix to the Horror on the Hudson at Pier 92 for the Saturday night before Halloween. We got there a little after 11 and waited in line for a few minutes but basically walked right in. When we got inside it was way more fun than I thought it would be and there was tons of stuff going and awesome costumes to check out. I was actually surprised at how quick I was able to get a drink given the amount of people there and waited only a couple minutes each time I went back for more. I had so much fun tearing up the dance floor that before I knew it about 4 hours had gone by and the night was almost over. My only complaint is that the party didn't last longer until like noon the next day but I guess that would be unreasonable and can't really complain about something like that. Overall I had an awesome time as did my 6 other friends and we have already purchased tix for one of their New Years Eve events. Oh and the best part was that they had hired photographers to walk around and take pictures of everyone in their costumes and posted them on their website. I loved checking them out the day after seeing what an awesome time we had that night. Anyway I gotta recommend Joonbug and will say that if your looking for something cool to do on NYE this year then definitely check out their site.
BEWARE! TOTAL SCAM! – First, I apologize for the caps in the subject header, but this place really is just that bad.
I went to a party they were sponsoring at the 44 Lounge on 10/30/10. There was a promise of an open bar, but once we got to the lounge we were told there was no such offer. I tried talking to the people who claimed to be representing Joonbug, all of whom claimed not to know anything about an open bar. I tried calling their office and the girl hung up on me after stating "No refunds." We promptly left after realizing we'd been scammed. I tried contacting their HR department for a refund, and the HR woman claimed that since I stayed for the entire six hours, I was not entitled to my money. Here's the kicker: we left IMMEDIATELY after finding out we'd been duped. Immediately as in within an hour, though she claims she was told by someone that we stayed. No one would even talk to us, and I never gave my name to anyone (though I did tell security we were leaving). I hate being scammed, but I also hate being called a liar. I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and to Consumer Affairs hoping to get my money back-- the most annoying part of all of this is that we paid good money to enjoy what we thought would be a good night, only to end up leaving pretty quickly after arriving to try to find a dive bar that would take us in. I'm writing this to warn others: do NOT purchase from this scheming, scamming establishment!
