Best cigars in the city and anywhere. – I purchased some of these cigars at an on line auction and was stunned by the overall quality. I knew when I was visiting Manhatten, that this would be my first stop.
Although rather small, it just goes to show that you don't need highly polished wood and fancy suits to have a great product. It was a very down-to-earth atmosphere and symbolized the REAL New York. World class cigars without the 5th Avenue prices.
Every cigar lover should visit this shop. You will be blown away with what he has. Everytime that i visit the city, Martinez Handmade cigars will be first on my list to visit.
Great since 1976! – I visited Martinez when it first opened in 1976, being Cuban and a cigar aficionado since I was 18, I wanted to get the closest thing. Martinez was it and I have been a customer since then, even after moving to southern NJ.
Great cigars and conversation – Great little place. We enjoyed watching the man roll cigars. Gentlemen in there were very friendly and helpful. Has a good ventilation system so the smoke is not overwhelming. If you love cigars, definitely give this shop a try.
The Best Cigars You Will Find Anywhere – If you want the very best cigars you will find anywhere at any price, I recommend Martinez Cigars. It's small, it's loud, and one hell of a lot of fun. This is where the guys go for a great cigar and some great conversation, and you can watch these fantastic cigars being rolled right in front of you. This is the quintessential New York experience to be found nowhere else and I absolutely love it here. They should make a movie about this place. But let's not forget the cigars... I have yet to meet a person who has tried one of these cigars and not said they were one of the best cigars they have EVER smoked. period! And the most expensive cigar is $7!! This little factory is truly an unexploited gem. No cigar lover should come to New York City without making this place their first stop.
Don't waste your money or time here! – As a cigar love I was excited to check this place out. What a big disapointment. The store is very small and the room between the door to the street and the counter with cigars is about 3 feet deep by 6 feet wide. When I arrived there were 4 guys behind the counter (owners) all talking loud and filthy to two of their friends . There was absolutely no way for me to see the cigars as their friends were standing front of the display counter.
When I asked if they could please move the owner said " You can see over them"
When I asked about the different cigars, I receievd a short disinterested answer. I was desperate I bought 2 cigars and got the hell out. The cigars unraveled, burnt uneven and tasted of amonia. These were some of the worst cigars I have ever smoked.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Neighborhood cigar shop hand rolls custom cigars and over 25 Dominican types on-site. Personalized labels can be made for special events.
fantastic find in flat iron – I've walked by this street for years, and finally stopped in to get some cigars as gifts for friends. What a find, an unassuming little shop with some of the best hand-rolled cigars I've ever tasted. Plus the owners have kept the old style feel, in a cool little shop -- all the locals seem to come here.
