The Scene – Glen Miller immortalized this hotel in the song "Pennsylvania Six-Five Thousand," back when it was the Statler. The building was designed by renowned architect Stanford White in 1904 and has a long, rich history. It's a bit of a shame that it now caters to a mostly business clientele who take advantage of its proximity (five blocks) from the Jacob Javits Center. It's also directly opposite Madison Square Garden. – – The Details – Some of the 1,700 rooms have streamlined and modern looks, others have French rococo effects. But all are spirited and brightly…

We were dreading this hotel after reading some of the reviews here. We stayed on the second floor in a very large room. It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals.us They usually have some pretty good deals on there!
Basic rooms, but good for the price

After reading many reviews after booking this hotel I was very nervous about staying here and expecting the worst. It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals.us They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

The location was excellent and the staff was fantastic. Cythnia was especially helpful when I was not feeling well. The door of the room was shaped like a submarine capsule or asylum door. It was very amusing. One of the compters was not working in the lounge but the free printng and faxing was great as part of the 500 club. Also, the force of the water from the shower was like a pulsating massage. I enjoyed my stay and will be a repeat customer.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL
by Soleares
I actually saw the comments of this hotel before I went to NYC. But I didn't want to believe. However, when I arrived at the hotel I realised that all those reviews were true. ESPECIALLY: If you wish to get a city tour of NYC DO NOT get it from the hotel. They will give you missing information. We wanted to get a city tour and an access pass to top of the Empire State Building. There are 2 type of passes. One is regular which you can go to the 86th floor only nad the other one is express which you can go to the 102nd floor. We bought the express one. However, when we went the the empire state building the security told us that this ticket does not allow us to the 102nd floor. We were shocked. We said that we have an express pass which we paid more money. They said express pass only allows to go to the 86th floor.
The next day we went to that kiosk and complained. They said, they had a new empoyee under still training and when he realised the mistake he tried to reach us from our room. Of course we were not in the room because we went out to see the beauty of the city. The guy under still training hasitated to leave a voice mail to the room phone.
This was so unbelievable and unacceptable. Even if we go to NYC again. We WILL NOT stay at this hotel.
DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE.
- Pros: location
- Cons: rude and unknowledgeble staff, small and dirty rooms.
Hands down the most disgusting hotel i have ever stayed
by themindhealer
This is easily the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed. I wanted something close to Madison Square Garden. I didn't need anything fancy. However, I was not prepared for this awful hotel. The window had hand prints, the mirrow was rusted, the bathroom door looked like a large dog had chewed on it for hours, the tile in the shower was falling off, the bottom of the shower was black with mildew, the air vent was dirty, the outlet plate was broken. When I complained to them they said "Our hotel is old." I tried to help them understand that age had nothing to do with it. It was FILTHY. I'd love to post actual pictures as opposed to the ones on their site. I wouldn't stay there again if it was free. If you are dumb enough to stay there at least make sure you have had all of your shots first.
- Pros: i lived to tell about it
- Cons: dirty, falling apart, indifferent staff
