check out the rooftop bar. you don't have to be a hotel guest to go up there, and the view of the empire state building is awesome.

Horrible Service!. While on the rooftop bar with coworkers on a Thursday night the staff was extremely rude. Our group was approx 15-20 people spending a decent amount of money (upwards of $1200) and we were continually treated with disrespect from the staff. Our drink orders were severely delayed in getting to us and upon arrival they were not the correct drinks. The waitress then had the nerve to tell us she already brought the drinks over when this was clearly not the case. 2 of the people sitting at the table next to our group got up to use the restroom and the remaining 2 members were requested to leave the table because they didn't have enough people to warrant a table. Again, the staff was incredibly rude in telling them to leave not even asking.

After we were requested to leave the table area, we relocated to the bar. At the bar we were then repeatedly told to move again. The staff was continously pushy, rude and not at all accomodating to our group.

Upon leaving the rooftop bar area we took a seat in the main lobby while waiting for the rest of our group to come down the elevator. We were quiet and merely sitting and was again told to leave the area because it was for hotel guests only, not bar guests.

Nothing about the rooftop bar was noteworthy. In addition to the poor service, there are only 2 unisex bathrooms, both of which were not clean. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will not be returning.

A stylish, friendly Herald Square oasis.. The Scene
Despite the Kenny G-esque jazz playing in the lobby, this midtown hotel oozes New York class. Chandeliers, marble pillars and black-and-white photos of World War II-era movie starlets give the lobby a welcoming atmosphere. It also helps that the staff is very service-oriented. When a line forms at the front desk, for example, the doorman will ask queued-up clients if he can be of help.

The Details
The rooms are designed with Art Deco touches and come with the basics, including clock radios, cable TV, hair dryers and iron and ironing boards. The bathrooms boast exquisite marble floors and countertops. For hungry guests who don't want to stray far from the hotel, the on-premises Metro Grill serves up classic Yankee fare seven days a week.

A great deal!. We stayed here recently and found the staff to be friendly, the rooms to be clean, the rooms are larger than some of the NY rooms I have stayed in. The restaurant had good food and service. The rooftop bar was really cool. The location was fantastic. We will stay here from now on!

A Great Find. Conveniently located in Midtown (right around the corner from the Empire State Building and close to Herald Square). Wonderful art deco decor. Clean. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Nice guests from all over the U.S. and Europe. A free continental breakfast that would be worth paying for. And, less than $200 a night. A wonderful place.

What a View. A great little hotel. It's central for doing the whole 'sight-seeing' thing, with a fabulous roof terrace with great views of the Empire State building.

The staff were friendly and very helpful with great tips on what to see and how best to get there. They also arranged for a bottle of champagne to be waiting in our room for when we arrived as a surpirse for my husbands birthday.

Whilst the room was on the small side it offered everything we needed.

I will definitely be returning and would recommend to friends and family.

bad experience....... i booked to stay at this hotel and when i came to hotel, i was surprised to see they had not reserved a room for me. check in time was during the day but i arrived in the evening at about 7pm, to know my room was cancelled, but yet i was charged. strange how they can charge me whenh i was there and they refused to give me a room.

very poor customer service and i would request people to be careful next time before they make reservations at this hotel, you may be refused when u arrive!!

Such a Gem!. This is a great little hotel -- super clean, close to everything and very affordable!

Also, the staff was very personable. They helped us figure out which train to take to the subway and even sent up a replacement TV remote control in the middle of the night.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, family, and clients on a budget.
