FINALLY! An honest, nice helpful Automotive Center. I brought my car here for a NYS inspection. I needed brake pads and wiper blades, thats all.The staff was professional, helpful and nice, and had a sense of humour.They showed me what needed to be done,fixed it and completed the inspection when they said it would be done! I dont know if I dare give a rate of a 5????? I have only been there one time and it was a relief to find a mechanic.

The customers in the waiting room agreed, good automotive center.

Best auto service in Manhattan. Lemme tell you. My radiator exploded one day and I called Brownfeld for a tow. He said "I am too busy right now" and I begged him for some help. He sent a tow to me. Why was he busy? Because there had been a GAS EXPLOSION IN HIS SHOP- AND HE STILL GOT ME A TOW!!! This guy is awesome. I will not go anywhere else in Manhattan.

Professional. I've been working with Alan since 2003 when I needed a fleet of 3 vans regularly serviced. Since then I've brought my personal vehicles to him on a regular basis. He's an honest, good guy who knows his business. In a city filled with companies that just don't have time to personally devote to their customers and customers needs, Alan is an anomoly. He makes it easy to just swing by in the morning and drop your car off before work then pick it up at the end of the day.

where have you been all my life?. i bought a car from a shady dealer and wanted to get it checked out on my own to make sure all was well. Alan was so warm and accommodating, i felt at ease right away. i sat at home trying not to panic about everything that might be wrong with my car, only to have Alan call and tell me that for the most part, my car was just fine. he could have made up any number of pricey things that needed "fixing" but was totally on the up and up.

between Alan's extreme honesty and generosity, and the office girl Monica's supreme friendliness, this was by far my best mechanic experience of all time, i wish i wasn't moving away so i could come back often!

Let me first say that Alan's garage has renewed my faith that there is still one honest auto mechanic shop left in Manhattan.

Well, having lived in manhattan for almost 20 years, and having to keep a car here too, I've grown pretty cynical. What with overpriced garages, ripoff dealer service centers, and to top it off, the dreaded annual nyc inspection. I have been to quite a few supposedly reputable repair/inspection centers, and had grown to accept the ridiculous and expensive add-ons charged by manhattan mechanics in order to give that inspection sticker. I've never gotten thru for less than a few hundred dollars worth of engine flush/aircleaner blowout/overpriced work that I didnt really need.

So after bringing in my 95 Ford explorer truck in to the place I had been using for the last 3 years, and being told I needed to spend an additional $400+ on engine cleaning etc...I had about had it. I told my old place no thanks, paid the $100 "oil change fee" and headed on over to this place I had found on the web called Brownfeld .

Later that day I get a call to pick up my truck. I meet Alan, a big friendly biker type dude, who tells me I owe just $46 for the inspection. Thats it? Everything is fine and good?? Yes he says, and proceeds to describe all the work that I had done on my truck in the past like brake and front end etc. He had completely checked out everything was in good service and didnt take any opportunity to "upsell" a thing.

I recommend Brownfeld Garage as the ONLY trustworthy mechanic left in NY.

This place is great!. Brownfeld auto gave my car special attention and advised me of choices for repair - I'm going back for sure!

better auto mechanics in nyc. broughy my car here the guy was kind of pushy and unprofessional so i left. I would recommend going elsewhere where they will take there time and emphasize customer service and patience

Brownfeld's - The Best Garage ANYWHERE!. I was once told that all one needs to get by in the CIty is a good mechanic, tailor and hairdresser. With Alan Brownfeld of Brownfeld?s you?ve got the mechanic covered! Alan is not simply a good mechanic ? he?s an auto technician extraordinaire. Having worked in the field his entire life, even apprenticing under his father, the original Brownfeld, Alan can analyze any problem and fix it ? permanently. And unlike most garage proprietors, Alan is extremely honest with reasonable rates. He never claims something needs fixing that doesn?t, nor does he overcharge for any work done and/or equipment used. His work is flawless, pointed and efficient. I couldn?t imagine bringing my car anywhere else. And it?s such a relief to know that when my auto isn?t running perfectly, I know where to go to get it back to 100%.

Honest, quick & friendly service!. After my service station closed down I decided to give Brownfeld a try for a service check after reading the great reviews on Citysearch. The owner was honest, friendly and had my car back to me in one day. On top of it he noticed I was almost due for my state emissions test so he went ahead and performed that for me in addition to the servicing (and processed my emissions sticker/paperwork) so I wouldn't have to come back in again! On top of it his rates were so good I was floored at how litle my bill was compared to what I expected to pay! If you're looking for a new mechanic give them a try.
