Cheaper than Its Cousin – A half-price discount at TKTS is good, but what if you could get that same tickets for a mere $3.50? Sometimes, you can. Like its better-known counterpart, Audience Extras sells same-day tickets at a fraction of the original cost. Memberships are $130 to join and $85 for each year thereafter. If you want to order more than one ticket, you'll need to donate an additional $35 to the Memorial Foundation for the Arts. After that, you and up to three friends can see select Broadway, off-Broadway and fringe productions or dance showcases or concerts or sporting…

- TKTS:
- Audience Extras concentrates primarily on off-Broadway productions. TKTS features more shows on the Great White Way.

Great for locals
by Registered1001
Audience Extras has great shows and started with the audience development concept. As the critics attend a show's preview, Audience Extras support the theaters by filling the seats so the critics have the benefit of a full house audience to gauge their reaction.
In addition to the Off-off Broadway, Off Broadway, and Broadway shows. They offer exclusives such as screening at the Warner Brothers studios, Cooking show tapings, Who wants to be a millionaire tapings, etc. (this is a while back now) Unless you are in the industry, you won't have the same level of access as they provide you. In this sense, you are invited to an exclusive club, like the American Express concierge or the Lexus club.
I never had an issue with customer service, like the other reviewer wrote. So I'll leave it at that.
Joining is not a trivial matter, and there are certain rules to go by. You can really benefit from this if you live in the city and loves cultural activities. Otherwise, go to TKTS and get your half price tickets.
well sorta

You might discover an experience you love; many of the offerings are of the, "better than watching rerun" variety.... If you have any kind of customer service issue, you might as well give up. After trying repeatedly to contact the company about a minor accounting issue, I cancelled my membership. It is quite clear that once you've enrolled, you cease to exist.
- Pros: shows you'd never payfull price to see
- Cons: no customer service whatsoever
It's $85 per year, not $110
by Ad17
Previous reviewers seem somewhat confused. It's true that when you sign up you pay $115, but $30 of that goes into your 'bank.'
So the first 8 times you buy a ticket, you don't even have to pay anything, it just comes out of your bank.
- Pros: Very cheap, wide choice of shows
- Cons: None yet.
Great for REAL NEW YORKERS!
by mfdiva
One thing that attracts people to this city is the abundance of live cultural events. You are a real New Yorker when you prefer to go to ANYTHING live, rather than watch a movie or tv. Not everything on Broadway is the last word in entertainment, and many things have developed from an off Broadway life to find themselves "grow up to Broadway" (ever heard of Rent, Little Shop of Horrors, Spring Awakening, Urinetown, to mention a few!) This is a terriric bargain for people interested in all this city has to offer. Low budget, experimental, works in progress or even "bad" theatre is better than joining the ranks of the couch potato army. A WONDERFUL deal, and you never know what each day will hold!
GREAT IDEA

I've been a member for 10 years and it's DEFINETLY worth the membership for anyone who lives or works in the city.
Very simply - your investment of $110 is for the annual membership and your 'bank'
you get two tickets to a Broadway Show ( Orchestra)
which would cost you well over $110 and you made $103.00 on the
transaction!
The ability to pay that SMALL investment for such GRAND opportunities to see concerts, movies, off broadway, Ballet, Broadway and all things "Entertainment" is to me... "priceless"
But you really would have to decide for yourself $110 for a years worth of entertainment ( divide that by 12 months! ) that you definetly couldn't afford seems like a GREAT IDEA to me!
- Pros: Variety of events
- Cons: Some events require office pickup, the need to check the website regularly as the "hot ticket items" go fast!
