Worst bike shop ever.

by xleeny at Citysearch

I went to fix a broken shifter, it was working functionally, but visually and holding it, it was broken. I didn't like it because it was loose and could have fallen off. I went in asking a guy if he could fix or replace it. He does a few quick shifts up and down, which no one who knows their way around a bike would do. And gives a price estimate. Not only does he shift it to the wrong gear I had in place, but while riding the bike 3 feet, the derailer breaks. I went in to complain and they wouldn't do anything.

It also seems shifty. They're no place to bring your bike in, so you just have to leave it outside, where someone could just run up and snatch your bike. Not safe.

I will give them the fact that they have everything you need, tools, lubricants, locks, but it's all expensive. I would highly advise that you only go here if it's a life or death situation. The old guy there is nice, but everyone else just seems like they're in the business for your money.

  • Pros: Warm during winter. They have everything you need.
  • Cons: Too many to list

terrible bike shop and service

by merrill123 at Citysearch

I bought a used 3 speed bike from frank's about 2 weeks ago. within a week, the break cables snapped off and the rear axl split in half. No problem it's used and things happen. I brought it back to get it fixed. While I was there i bought ANOTHER bike to use while mine was being fixed..... When I went back to pick up my bike, they flat out told me that I should buy my bikes and get them fixed somewhere else because I use my bikes for "commercial use" whatever that means. That's the way they treat good customers?...any dope can sell you a bike. It's the customer service and repair part of the business that sets bike shops apart. Frank's is lousy

  • Pros: nothing
  • Cons: there are about 5 other bike shops in the area

No BS bike shop

by bmwrider at Citysearch

The staff at Frank's is great! Very polite, down to earth and absolutely no airs about them. They just know everything there is to know about urban biking. Don't let the seeming chaos fool you. I noticed that both Frank and Tom are amazing multi-taskers, so just because they are answering questions from 3 or 4 other customers, they aren't skipping a beat as they set up your bike or find the part or accessory you need. I found just the bike I wanted so I bought on the spot; no need to check out anywhere else.

  • Pros: Great service, knowledgable staff, easy parking if you have a car
  • Cons: A little out of the way
