The Scene
Owner and designer Jelena Behrend is so mellow that on a warm summer evening, you're likely to see her standing outside her store, holding court with friends and locals. She crafts the jewelry just a few feet from the counter that holds the final creations, and it's sort of the shopping equivalent of dining in a restaurant with an open kitchen. When you can see where everything's coming from, the experience is just a little more special.
The Goods
Behrend hand- and custom-makes pieces sterling silver, platinum and gold, in a variery of finishes; some feature diamonds or semi-precious stones. Most of the pieces are gently delicate or sturdily tough--and sometimes, a combination of both. Look for chunky link bracelets and dangling earrings made of interlocking silver circles, and know that most items can be stamped with a message or name. One necklace's pendant reads "Be Kind." We suggest you do the same by purchasing a token for a loved one.

I have been shopping at Jelena Behrend Studio since i was in college and lived in LES. I asked my fiance (now husband ;o) to get my engagement ring at Jelena's studio, we got our wedding rings there and just yesterday I got my first Mother's day present which I am so excited about and that's why I decided to post my review here. I got most amazing necklace with my newborn's, my husband's and mine initials and it sure made my day! It is simple and timeless- I know I will be wearing it all my life! Thank you Jelena for all the work you have done for me and my family! Every piece created by you is amazing and precious!
