Couldn't imagine better partners in our cats' care. I first came to Washington Square when my partner's cat fell ill with what turned out to be a rare cancer. He'd been coming to Dr. Lucas since the cat was a kitten, and she knew him and his history intimately. Her care was sensitive and attentive, and when she knew his case needed more expert care, she referred us immediately. When his time finally came, she and the Wash. Sq, staff were all as caring as if they were family.

My two girl cats started coming to Washington Square not long after that. Both are geriatric and have their fair share of age-related ailments, and both have also had odd, rare conditions. The timing of their illnesses led to Turtle being in Dr. Lucas's care and Grace in Dr. Kutscher's, but the doctors cover each other seamlessly, so if one is absent when test results come in, for example, the other will call me to let me know.

Grace was recently diagnosed with serious kidney failure, and her condition deteriorated rapidly. Dr. Kutscher has been nothing short of heroic in working with me to explore both common and uncommon, medical and homeopathic treatments. She is open and frank when I ask her questions, and has been extremely proactive in researching ways to help me help Grace cope with her condition. Dr. Kutscher is a true partner in Grace's care and I cannot imagine a better doctor to work with.

Plus, both doctors are so obviously fond of the animals they work with! This is a small practice, and unlike some clinic-type practices I've been to where multitudes of doctors come and go, it's a blessing to be coming to a practice where the doctors and staff know exactly who we are, and who our cats are.

Dr Lucas and Dr Kutscher are WONDERFUL Veterinarians!!!. My husband and I recently got two new kittens and a friend recommended Washington Square Animal Hospital and we couldn't be happier!! Dr Lucas and Dr Kutscher are WONDERFUL and excellent Veterinarians. We had our kittens spayed and Dr Lucas did a fantastic job and the kitties recovered beautifully! Also the staff at Washington Square are super! They are kind and friendly. They answer all our questions and it is obvious they really care about not only my kitties but all of the other pets that are under their supervision. My husband and I can not say enough good things about this place. I HIGHLY recommend anyone bring their pets to Washington Square Animal Hospital! Your pets will thank you!

I wouldn't go back with our new cat. Fine for very standard care. Terrible when my cat tested diabetic. Dr. Lucas gave him a year to live and when I suggested changing diet and ear sticks for accurate bl==d sugar testing to help regulate his diabetes, Lucas told me my cat would fear me and that she would not support what I later came to see as the ONLY standard of care for a diabetic animal.

My cat lived 6 years and died of old age at 20, he never feared the tests or the insulin injections, and in fact found me at the right time since treats were involved. We never had the terrible crashes or races to the vet that guessing about an insulin dose can cause. Of course we did have a new doctor.

I wouldn't go back.

do not go to these vets. Do not go to these vets. We brought our cat there and Dr. Lucas prescribed Tapazol which made the cat anemic. Dr. Lucas was totally unaware and didn't even catch it when we went back for a test and the cat tested anemic.

She sent us to the animal hospital at 15th Street. Then you're in the black hole because they have your credit card number. We spent thousands of dollars to save the cat but it was too late - the damage to her system had been done.

After we had to put the cat down, Dr. Lucas sent a condolence note which said it had been a "learning experience" for her. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET.

No stars--
