More than cheese.... Recently my friend and I went there and got olives and dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) instead of what one would normally go there for, ie. cheese. We were blown away how good the dolmas are, probably the best both of us have had for years, and at $3.99 a pound, we know we will have to go back and get more! The olives are good too, just like you'd expect from a good olive. I read other reviewers mention this place is always crowded. Well, it's certainly worth the wait. Although we lucked out on our recent visit, Sat around noon, with only 2 people in front of us. Very happy there is a place like this in NYC!

Naysayers be gone!. EVC has been the ONLY place that I have bought cheese for the past 5 years. Do not heed the negative reviews, just b/c the cheese here is not 25$ per pound does not mean it is bad by any extent. Whenever I bring cheeses from here over a friend's house or party I ALWAYS get rave reviews. The cheese is literally dirt cheap with the sales items going for 2-4$ per pound and the most expensive cheese is usually about 12-14$ per pound. This place is a godsend and is always crowded for good reason!

Not for serious cheese lovers. I realize that the price is right at this cheese store, but it is so for a reason....these are not good cheeses. Most are processed junk like havarti and provolone. The rest tend to be past their prime (I bought one covered in mold-and not the kind welcome in cheese). If you are looking for anything gourmet-worthy, this shop with just disappoint.

Crazy Prices. How do they get their cheese so cheap? Honestly, 2 lbs of french brie for $1....doesn't it cost that much just to ship it from France? This place is awesome, perfect for starving students, artists and anyone else who needs an inexpensive cheese fix.

I travel 245 miles to go to this cheese shop. Honestly I am visiting family but EVERY time I visit it is an absolute surety that I will visit this Cheese Shop. They have a phenomenal French Feta cheese for half the price of where I am from. They also have many other really good quality cheeses and meats and their prices cannot be beat. You may have to wait in line (sometimes for 20 min or more) BUT ITS WORTH IT.

Best Cheese in the City. I go to this place every week! It has best prices that I've found. Best place to get pita and hummus as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cheese as much as I do! It's also nice to support small businesses.

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Small shop with wide array of domestic and imported cheeses at cheap prices, plus crackers, deli meat and more.
