buonissimo

On a Sunday evening my friend and I spontaneously met up on Union Square to grab a bite to eat. I have been wanting to go to Borgo Antico but have had a hard time getting a reservation on a days notice. On a whim we decided to try...the place was packed, but luck was on our side as the host-owner giovanni was able to seat us right away at a table that was just cleared. Another women checked our bags, she was so cheerful and friendly. We really felt that we were appreciated for our business. The meal was fantastic and our waitress was kind and friendly, not overbearing. The atmosphere was lovely and it was one of those truly enjoyable dining experiences. I will celebrate my 30 birthday here with 30 friends.
Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and exception service!

After reading in City Search that this was a "The Best Italian Food," I was psyched to go for some good Italian. Turns out, there's a reason that professional food critics exist - this restaurant is great. The atmosphere is super comfortable. The service was informal and intelligent. Every thing I tasted was awesome, and just different enough to edge this place above the generic Italian food that's so easy to find in this city. I found it to be overall quite reasonable as well. The pork saltimbocca was delicious, cooked beautifully. All the pastas were fantastic, with inventive use of ingredients that tasted familiar yet new.giovanni keep up the ship !

ur love affair with Borgo Antico started years ago. We had reservations at Gotham Bar & Grill and were early (we were in black tie because we were later going to The theatre to see "fuerza bruta" for a special birthday event) so we stumbled around the neighborhood until time for our reservations and discovered Borgo Antico. We found the downstairs area- with a full service bar well stocked. The host and bartender were wonderful. They made us wonderful martinis and took us upstairs to see the beautiful dining room. They had us at "olives or a twist". The food is lovely and the service is always superb. I've always said that if I lived in New York, Borgo Antico would be my regular neighborhood haunt. It's terrific.
- Pros: food, all italians
