The Scene
Come hang out on the overstuffed sofa in Jill Anderson's narrow East Village boutique--every other hip gal in the neighborhood is here, and they all seem to be having a blast. The adoring hordes are certainly on to something: classic, simple clothes that are elegant and well made. Who can resist hip threads in a setting this relaxed, with the ebullient designer fluttering around, catering to each customer as if she were an old friend?
The Goods
Jill Anderson's clothes possess a utilitarian simplicity that's flattering to many body types. While many pieces are inspired by specific women like Audrey Hepburn and Virginia Woolf, Anderson is perhaps best known for her Italian Widow's Dress (a deceptively plain-seeming zip-front A-line number that has devotees clamoring for one in every color) and her signature one-piece skirt/trouser combo. I've been shopping at Jill's faithfully for ten years. Her clothes garner the most compliments of any in my wardrobe. They are the perfect blend of street meets coiture with expert custom tailoring.

Jill's clothes are just amazing. I have been shopping here from the beginning and wouldn't part with a single item. The store is just beautiful and comfortable, the staff is lovely and there is never a hard sell. They have recommended things I never thought would work on me and they have, beautifully. Jill herself is just fantastic, sweet and so wonderfully talented. She designed outfits for my commitment ceremony and it was a truly amazing experience. Customer service like no other. Go now!
