The Scene – CBGB's indefatigable impresario Hilly Kristal expanded his horizons in a big way when he opened this forward-thinking club next door. Not only does it give him a second music venue, it also functions as an art gallery by day, showcasing alternative artists whose subject matter is often deemed inappropriate for commercial galleries. – – The Draw – Since the venue is more party-ready than CBGB, sexy club one-offs have been known to stop by.

It's Cool Here

The musical acts are great. I'm not just saying that because I've done shows there but they really do get some great acts. Artists adorn the space with all types of beauty. It's cozy and dark with a hint of "oh yeah" for the younger crowd.

I met a couple from London the last time I was there to play that were really into the style of the place. The only downfall... the bar can be just a bit high priced. Other than that, being eighteen with a valid ID (or sixteen with parent) will get you in to hear some killer music and see some wonderful art from local artists. It's a little mellow next to it's sister venue CBGB's but it will be worth the trip.
