Yummmm. Japonica is quite possibly my fave sushi restaurant in the city. It can be kinda hard to narrow it down when there are soooooo many places to choose from, but they are consistently good and you can't ask for better service.

Stumbled upon japonica... Was having a lovely evening downtown and got a craving for for sushi...luckily i happened to discover this spot and it was GOOD. love their unagi and my husband got the udon and really liked it.

SUUUUSSSHHHIII!!!. Love this place! I am the pickiest b*%ch when it comes to sushi and there are very few place that I will actually eat. I've been known to walk out of a place when my food has been served so it speaks extremely high of this place that I not only stayed—but I enjoyed it.

I love japonica!. Fresh and delicious sushi at an affordable price and in a great location--right by Union Square. I love this location, it's a great spot to people watch if you sit by the window facing the street. Great decor and ambiance too.

Get the Lunch Special!.
I'm a poor student and can't afford to buy Japonica's expensive sushi dishes. However, every once in awhile, when I need a little pick-me-up or just want to treat myself, I get their lunch special. The waitstaff is excellent, efficient, and professional. The atmosphere is an calm oasis and it's never too crowded or noisy.
I recommend the lunch special w/salmon kama and bbq eel bowl. Both of these are TO DIE FOR.

My fave sushi spot. Love this place for a lot of reasons. Was sorta my go to spot when I went to NYU so it has a lot of sentimental value for me, but also the food is just phenomenal and I love the location.

I love their sushi. it's very fresh and delicious and sooooo cheap. Idk why some people on here are complaining about it being expensive! And the owner, Shinzo, is the sweetest man you will ever meet. Very good energy here.

BEST SUSHI IN TOWN!. I felt the all caps were necessary to convey my excitement haha. But seriously, the sushi is amazing and you can't beat the prices and service.

an ny staple. been eating here ever since i was a young college student fresh to nyc! although my budget has grown since then i still call japonica my fave sushi in the city. it's always good and the staff is amazing. the owners know me by now and i've gotten so many friends and family members hooked on it i should have some stocks or something!
