Decent Little Brunch Joint
by MimaTaino at Citysearch
I met two of my friends here for brunch who love the place. It is a bit crammed but my experience was just fine. I came in very hungry so I would have been happy to eat whatever they put in front of me. The waiter had quite a personality. He seemed to be enjoying himself which was fine with us. Those who are snooty might not have appreciated it. I had the french toast with scrambled eggs on the side and it worked for me. Not the best ever but it was ok. Probably making it with a different type of bread would be better but hey there are people starving in this world so I'm not going to complain. I left satisfied and they refilled my coffee a few times. Nice.
Our waiter asked for more tip...
by micqa at Citysearch
The food was ok. The service was ok. We paid our bill and left tip on the table. Just as we stood up, our waiter asked if the food and service was ok and we said "Yes." Then he begged for more tip saying that we should give somewhere between 18%-20%. We've been to many more classier and more expensive places than Cafe Centosette. Although my husband felt that it was ok and he understood the waiter's desperation. This was a surreal experience for me and my son. A waiter asking for more tip, my first in 21 years of living in NYC.
Fantastic Brunch
by venya at Citysearch
I've been to Centosette about 6 times now for brunch and look forward to coming back every time. Nested on a cozy corner of 2nd Avenue, this place makes fantastic fresh omelets and French toast.
Both outdoor and indoor seating promises prompt service, and an attentive waiter. The food is priced fairly.
I can?t speak for their dinner service or menu yet, but I look forward to trying it sometime soon.
- Pros: Food, service, outdoor seating
- Cons: none yet
Great little Italian restaurant.
by Gezza at Citysearch
We love this little Italian restaurant. Great atmosphere and exceptional service - terrific waiting staff.
Food was delicious, try the mussels, or calamari, or chicken. Can't wait to return and try the cakes - didn't have room last time. In the warm weather, sit outside sipping a cold wine and watch the passing parade - this is our favorite place to eat in Manhattan.
worst place to eat
by fnycfor90 at Citysearch
It would be an understatement to say this place is horrible. Firstly, the tables are pretty much piled on top of each other. I love going out to eat and because I work in the bizz I am pretty easy going when it comes to bad service. It took forever to get our order taken, and when we did the server was unfriendly and we could hear him complaining about his horrible night to the rest of the wait staff. Personally I don't like a side of depression with my fettucini
