  12. I've eaten at Hasaki many times and the food and service are always excellent.
  13. Last night they gave me the WORST cut of fish I've ever seen in my sashimi/sushi combo priced at 20.00!
  14. Everyone I have taken there agree that the fish is excellent.
  15. don't even like Tuna, and I never order tuna specifially at a sushi place, unless they come with the dish.
  16. Last time I went, the service was terrible and the sushi was not so fresh.
  17. But it is worth it in my books for good food.

  23. The sushi is always fresh and succulent, if I am feeling the need for something cooked, the slamon teriyaki is slammin'.
  24. Sushi is fresh and tempura is perfectly fired but light.
  25. Apparently, bad cuts, bad portion size and good customer service means nothing to these people anymore--I left and went two doors down to another sushi place, where for 1.50 less, the cuts and portions we're amazing and presentation was flawless.

Excellent Sushi

by Athena Chang , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

Having been back to Hasaki for more than 2 years, I stepped in to find the same quality of food and almost the same long wait.

My boyfriend and I got the Sushi for Two for $50. That includes sushi pieces and 3 rolls and red miso soups. The sushi was so tender it felt like melting in my mouth.

The red miso soup is really thick unless some other places.

I think the most comforting point about this sushi restaurant is that it is run by Japanese unlike other joints.

Love their fabulous sushi!

  • Pros: Fresh, high quality ingredients
  • Cons: Pricey

Not so great experience

by johnhkim at Citysearch

Had been a loyal customer to Hasaki for quite some time. Last time I went, the service was terrible and the sushi was not so fresh. This used to be my go to place in the east village for sushi.

Great for Lunch, Fantastic for Dinner

by kayomat at Citysearch

I have been going to Hasaki for lunch for several years now, and have loved the food, service, and value. Recently, I decided to try them for dinner and was blown away! The quality of food and service was one level above lunch, and the atmosphere was completely different (in a good way- almost romantic)! We (two people) ordered omakase, some a la carte sushi and two beers, so our bill was close to triple the price of lunch, but the experience was well worth it. The waiters were extremely attentive - everything came to the table at perfect timing, and our tea cups were never empty. While I still enjoy and continue going there for lunch, I will definitely love to go back there for dinner!

  • Pros: Solid sushi & service
  • Cons: No reservation

Not all that it is cracked up to be.

by aespangl at Citysearch

I was unimpressed with Hasaki on several different levels. Although we were seated immediately, our waiter was practically non-existant. We constantly had to flag him down, even to place our order. More importantly, the sushi itself was substandard.

Best sushi for the price! Highly recommended!

by herbferndocker at Citysearch

I've eaten at Hasaki many times and the food and service are always excellent. Last night, the seatrout appetizer was fantastic! Fatty and gelatinous and creamy... We enjoyed the sushi/sashimi special for two. The salmon, tuna and yellowtail were sparking fresh. Like butter! The tuna in the spicy tuna roll was as fresh as could be and the California roll had real crabmeat, not surimi. We had toro and uni for desert(!) and they were the best ever. Im very fussy about where I eat uni! The service was solicitous and attentive, as always. the house sake is very nice at a reasonable price. The only drawback? Hasaki is so popular there's often a long wait.

Highly recommended!

  • Pros: Freshest fish, reasonable prices
  • Cons: Very busy
